I would say they are only nice for certain body types. Most of the time a pea coat or an overcoat will give a sharper fit.

I'm a manlet (though I'm really proportional) and I own one that just covers my ass-- I thought it'd make me look shorter but it doesn't at all. I'm not a huge fan of toggles but I like duffle coats more than peacoats
