Thinking of copping wolverine 1k miles in black. Anyone here own a pair and mind posting a fit pic? I'm sure they'll look great with my regular casual wear during the winter, especially once their broken in.

buying my first pair of boots and i found out theres a small red wing shop close to me.
probably gonna buy those iron rangers with the rubber sole since i need boots with a bit of grip on them but dont want them to look bulky like a hiking or real work boot.

I've got a bit of a problem with my ropers, but I can't quite figure out the cause- although they fit well after a year or so, the ball of my right foot gets really irritated if I wear them for long walks or on consecutive days. I don't notice any direct discomfort from wearing them, and the insoles are still in good shape. I've noticed that there is some excessive wear underneath the insole (in the inner portion of the sole itself) at the problem area of the right foot, but nothing ridiculous. For reference, the outer soles are rubber on this particular pair.

Would a different insole help alleviate the issue, or are new boots going to be necessary?

What kind of job? Are your boots beat up or are they clean? Will you be wearing a suit / dress clothes, or something more casual?

If you're going to interview to be a barista at a hipster coffee shop, then you'll prob be fine to wear your desert boots. If you're going for an office job where everyone wears suits, just wear a suit and normal dress shoes.

It's important to me, but how important is it to you?

Military boots are really nice, useful to wear when hiking or whatever. I got them for free, a gift from someone I know in the Army.

I also wear Calvin Klein Chukkas, they have cushiony insoles that are flat, which is nice for my flat feet.

I'd love to wear Ramones but the price is not for me.

Yeah had them for a few months now really good quality boots, soft but tough. For about the £30 area on eBay it seems you can get either worn boots with new soles or new boots with worn soles, I went with the worn option and it seems as though the soles will wear out before the leather

Where can I buy the austrian paratrooper boots in the best quality possible and in larger sizes?

Having US 14 size feet makes my boot selection hard but these seem sleek and not too clunky so they're my best bet.

Some of the ebay places seem sketchy and one I asked said they can;t give me pictures of the product. Kommandostore has terrible customer service and never got back to me plus the shipping is rape to the UK

They're nice boots, just don't go full mfa or anything. They look a lot better broken in, so if you can, walk around in them before you'll wear them more frequently in front of people. If you go for late night walks or something I would just rock the boots and shorts (I know it looks horrible) and a shirt to expedite the process. Had these boots, or the ones with a zipper on them. Liked them a lot but the sole broke off 4-5 times within a year and I had to keep glueing it back together.

If you can wear a biker jacket and still look decent, then try harness-boots. Don't get crazy tall ones, don't get ones with a weird sole (especially the kind that tilts in a downward angle on the ankle) and go with a round toe-cap if you absolutely can. Jodhpurs are more feminine-looking IMO

If you're sure you like wearing boots then id probably say solovair/nps as a step up from DM's as they still have a wide range of styles so you can't really go too wrong. There are definitely certain brands which do certain styles better but if you're still beginner level just browse the Wollaston factory brands

So I have a problem. Just got new military boots, and did a few walks in them. The left boot is ok, but the right one is crushing above the toe, exactly on the spot where it creases. First I thought it was the lace hook placement problem, but it seems the leather just breaks at wrong angle, and hits the toe. Is there any way to fix this? Incredibly frustrating and painful.

Which shade of brown would work better for an /out/core fit?

I bought a pair of doc martens 1461 size 10 us normally I am size 10.5 but I thought that'll be quite spacy and stretchy turns out size 10 (43) was huge for me, should I get size 9 or 8? Anyone had a similar experience? Also my feet are almost 29 cm and are medium width yet there's plenty of room in the docs

The darker ones might fit the fit better, but the lighter ones (Clovis?) are gorgeous in person. Danner sizing is bizarre though, I'm a 9.5 D in nearly everything and the closest I could figure for Danner was 8.5 EE, and even then they were long.

The leather is much cheaper, they aren't handmade in the USA, maybe not Goodyear welted I forget. They'll fall apart a LOT sooner, probably mostly because of leather quality. You'd be better off buying used 1ks on ebay or grailed, they'll probably cost the same and last longer.

Idk, I bought a pair recently and the only problem in the construction is a slightly misaligned eyelet. The leather is still chromexcel and the stitching on my 1ks was flawless so I expect them to last me quite a while

have you worn boots before? $300+ is quite an investment and will suck if you end up not liking the feel of boots on your feet.
if you feel like youre gonna be wearing boots for awhile, then i would say go for it.
but you should also look at other brands like chippewa, thorogood, and wolverine.

theres also Thursday boots which is a crowdfunded boot for like $200. its fairly new in the market. I like the designs but still not sure about how they will last in the long run.
