I know little about what to buy apart from certain face shapes mean certain frames are better.

A little cheaper, but Quay Australia's mens collection so far seems to be quite nice, especially for the lower price. My girlfriend has one of their aviators thats really popular and they were pretty sturdy and didn't strain the eyes. Looking into getting these specific ones for myself, maybe.
