If you want recs, provide as many criteria as possible: including sex, price range, seasons/weather, occasions, other frags/notes/accords you like/dislike, special conditions i.e. can easily be found in mall department stores, other ephemera i.e. personal style/aura you want to project, etc...

It can be offensive for the first 30 minutes. After that, compliment fucking beast. Girls do love it, and it performs well. Dry down is identical to aventus dry down.

What is parfums de marly herod like? Sounds amazing
Do people like it when they smell it on you or is it one of those niche fragrances that's hard to appreciate for the general population
>>
reposting from last thread as well

what should I wear if my sole intention is dropping panties?

are there any CdG frags that fit that bill? because I tried wonderwood and black and I liked those, they don't have to be CdG tho
>>
>>12530915
Sauvage, Aventus, D&G The One
>>
>>12530906
>>12530910

I think it's pleb af personally and strongly disliked it. I find it harsh, not just during the opening half hour, but for the entire wear in general. To each his own. My bottle is sitting in the back of my frag cabinet collecting dust.

Pineapple Vintage and PV Noir are my only recommended Aventus clones.

My Sauvage bottle is running out. And its true its my girlfriend's favorite and I get compliments everytime I wear it. Even once in a human dissection where the room stinks of formaldehyde and death I managed to pick up a compliment on it

Though, my bottle is running out. I can't decide if I want to get another bottle or get something else since Sauvage is smelling so well, though ive only smelt it in the wild once or twice.

Will check out Dylan Blue. How does it smell compared to Sauvage? I dislike Sauvage because after some time it morphs into abroxan/ambergis or whatever that is impossible to get away out of clothes if you don't wash them and that part lats way too much on my skin, plus I don't like that heavy ambroxan smell.
>>
>>12530961
Ok you don't like that kind of frag. You can try The One, it would work in the cool summer nights.
>>
>>12530961
Damn, it does have a fair bit of ambroxan. What is your price range? Could rec some niche ones, most designer summer night frags are about the same. BdC could work if you like it, I don't care for it myself.

Thanks, we like the nice "fresh clean" smell and how its sweet up front then has manly/leathery finish (if that makes sense).

I figured it was generally considered a decent cologne but I always associated lacoste with "preppy" or boyish and wanted to know if that was the consensus.

Guys, I wanna smell like flowers. During colder months I use TF oud wood but now it's summer, and I want flowers. Light but intoxicating, little like a rose you bury your nose in to have the most intense feeling of smell but it just doesn't seem to be enough.

The issue? All I've found smell ultra feminine. I'm not particularly insecure with my manliness but they smell I-borrowed-my-girlfriends-parfume-feminine, which really doesn't fit a single man.

I live in a periferia where it's pretty difficult to smell anything but Boss etc.
>>
>>12532454
Have you tried Rose 31?
>>
>>12530920

Just to clear it up, I'm the Shadilay britfag that has this. But I still disagree and laugh at the flaming sample tart that probably faps over Roja or whatever. Like I get why people like niche and stuff, but the classism against others just for preferring designer is pathetic. Like if you are just getting it for a status symbol, then please don't, and let someone who will genuinely love the fragrance experience it.
>>
>>12532484
>>12530920

Xerjoff Mefisto. Big rose with citrus, lavender, and iris. Very sexy scent, quite masculine, very sophisticated. It's a very alluring, mature floral.

Expensive, though.
>>
>>12532484
>>12532488
???
I was just saying frags with real ambergris must be expensive as fuck and Haute Luxe was an example
>>
>>12532484
I'm not Samplesperg, but I love Roja's fragrances. I have Enigma and it's probably my favorite scent ever. I want 51, Fruity Aoud, Scandal, and Fetish as well. I'd love Haute Luxe, but realistically, that ain't happening.

I find his fragrances very unique. They have something to them that just doesn't smell like anything else. Once you're familiar with his fragrances, you know them when you smell them. Even if someone's wearing one of his scents you've never smelled before, you'll know it's his work. I can't really explain it better than that, but they're just different from anything else I've ever smelled. Like, Enigma is a tobacco scent that somehow smells nothing like a tobacco scent.
>>
>>12531219
2 is inferior to wonderwood, get black or ww

>>
>>12532503
Oh no I'm not throwing shade at you, I'm just against people that are acting uppity (well one person really)

>>12532505
I do too. Although there are a handful that personally do not appeal to me, I am a fan of his M.O, which is why I believe he is popular, creating the idea of "perfect perfumes" in a sense of that there is one blend that will strike a chord with someone as opposed to "the ultimate perfume" that is universally loved bar none. I love haute luxe, I sniffed it blind alongside Enigma d'or and a couple of AP concentrations (musk and amber aoud if I'm correct) but I don't consider it to be perfume that everyone will love, I just personally enjoy every part of it. Although I am sure he will release more exclusives as his brand expands (i.e The Gulf collection now having 5 perfumes in total as a form of exclusives to countries in the M.E.) I agree that a number of his creations have been done before, but if you look in the early days of modern perfumery, even the originators sniffed each others creations and attempted to better it. So all the fuss people kick up about "oh this Roja is a complete RIP OFF of ______" is ridiculous. You have legendary fragrances like l'heure bleue that would not exist if it wasn't for Coty's L'origin. Will Roja be beaten in terms of the creamy smoothness and blending? Maybe one day when technology keeps growing.

But even after all the praise that I give Roja in those respects, I still love a number of designer fragrances too, it just depends on my mood. I could wear haute luxe which I'm sure contains a degree of what it claims to have, but I could also equally enjoy a handful of designer fragrances for how their scent transitions.

Also as far as I'm aware, 1960s-1980s Bal A Versailles has real ambergris in it too. If anyone wants to talk to me about it, I will go more into detail as I don't want to give too much of a text wall to you all!

I saw people talking about it here so much that i finally bought a sample and I REALLY like it - both the scent itself and the performance. I wanted to buy a bottle but is it worth looking into other Creed fragrances if I'm looking for a warmer weather/universal scent? I mean I don't want to spend more money for kinda expensive samples if i'm gonna go with Aventus after all.
>>
>>12532615
I like to run with Original Vetiver on warm days during Spring and Summer, switching to 'heavy' freshies like Aventus in the evening.
>>
>>12532621
Thanks, I will try it out first especially since the price seems to be on the lower end from their other frags
>>
>>12532537
Yeah, there are absolutely some designer fragrances I enjoy and wear fairly frequently as well. Roja, for me, is not something I wear every day, especially given how expensive it is, I want it to last. Even if it was dirt cheap, though, it's not something for every occasion or setting in my opinion.

You pretty much nailed it that Roja seeks to create different scents that will be "perfect" for different people. I don't like some of his fragrances as well, a few have fairly prominent cumin notes, which is a note I hate. His fragrances that I do love, though, are absolutely magical.
>>
>>12532615
Millesime Imperial. In my opinion, it's Creed's best scent. Many may not agree with me there, but it has that nice sweet, but not cloying, fruitiness, the salty aquatic notes, it's just perfect for summer, and works year-round. Women seem to love it too.

Have you ever tried the candles?
I remember the connaught smelling pretty good. As well as burlington arcade and the sixth floor boutique, but I didn't ask what they were using to scent the rooms.

His method reminds me of the advice given to Ragu before pasta sauces exploded with variety, along the lines of "There can never be a perfect pasta sauce, only perfect pasta sauces". This can be found applicable to most things, which is why I would never personally berate anyone for liking a fragrance that I may not like.

For a cheap solution try lalique white. Its its the most amazing white floral I've smelled and is easily unisex. Its got this intoxicating note (probably the iodone) that smells like that moment just before a flower dies

You can also try amouage reflection man for a little more spice and incense, but still having the white florals.
robert piguet notes is very similar to reflection just without quite as much incense. Also less than half the price
Anything by JHAG as well. My favourites are not a perfume (ambroxin, which you use as a base to make everything last longer) and Anyway, which again, is a gorgeous white floral

Those are your best bets unless you wanna go full arab and throw a rose oud combo on. In which case, literally anything arabic will suffice, they all smell the same

I`m 24 y/o, medic, I have experience with basic tier fragances like Invictus, CH, 212 Vip
Now I want something serious but not overpowering (?)

I live on a mild hot country on average 30C on summer, will only use it by day, from 10 to 8 pm, if that matters
>>
Thoughts on TF Rive D'Ambre? Any cheaper alternatives out there? Don't have to be identical, even vaguely similar is fine
>>
What advantage would I get from buying the metal flask version of A* Men? Just a different look and feel? I'm guessing it'd be a safe buy since I could buy refills of other pure Mugler scents and pop it in the empty bottle.
>>
>>12534415
Yeah, it just looks nicer. And yeah, it's refillable. I bought one just so I don't have to deal with those horrible plastic things anymore.
>>
>>12532904
It's almost exaclty like Diro Homme Cologne but dior hasmuch better performance
>>
>>12534415
It's refillable and the atomizer on the metal flasks is noticeably better than the one on the rubber bottles

>>
Memoir Man is alright, but it doesnt smell that unique, still pretty good, compared to Reflection Man

What are frags that are pretty much totally unique? Obtainable on luckyscent preferably.
>>
>>12534599
The Zoologist line. I own bat and I've sample Rhino, Hummingbird, Nightengale, and Civet. If you want unique, that's what you'll get.

They're not the most wearable scents, but they do actually pretty well evoke the animals they're supposed to represent. For example, Bat is a mix of soil, earthy roots, leather, musk, and tropical fruits. Very high quality scents, very interesting, and nothing like anything you've ever smelled. Definitely not for every day, though.
>>
>>12534415
The advantage is that the sprayer actually works on the metal flask, rather than the weak dribble you get half the time with the rubber ones if you don't hit it just right.
>>
>>12534415
What could possibly be the advantage of buying anything designer? You reek of plebness.

an anon who can be identified by his vociferous hatred for all fragrances produced by "designer" houses. he spends lots of money on niche samples, doesn't own full bottles, and has only been posting in these threads for a few months, yet he presents his opinions as the sage wisdom of an olfactory savant. we seem to have largely succeeded in driving him off, thankfully, as he had begun truly shitting up the only good general on /fa/.

besides Samplesperg, there's Rojastein, who never fails to mention how he owns enigma which he didnt even buy, despite being the only Roja fragrance he owns. His only other cologne is probably Brut which he paid 2.99 for with the k-mart coupon

(Shadilay sister gift fag here)
Just so I'm not misrepresented I'm not the Roja fapper or rosa stein or whatever. I'm not cast under a strange spell like some base noters can be that you see in forums when discussing the brand. One thing that I find strange is that the marketing with the "Only 50 bottles per year" is probably exaggerated since there is another person that owns it here. I'm not saying its a bad thing or >MUH EXCLUSIVITY but just that obviously the marketing is talked up. If my numbers are right, if the marketing was true there would be 200 bottles that exist, which is dubious considering how many stores have them on display (unless the tester bottles are watered down).

And obviously its not the only fragrance I have, theres that BaV stuff that I posted a picture of, vintage mitsouko, Molecule 02 (if anything I think that was the dumbest purchase I made), Jimmy Choo man (Sits on the skin after about an hour jfc), Lacoste red (God knows how old it is but it still smells ok), Spicebomb (I'm not sure if its the heavy original or the reform made a couple of months after the release) and Versace oud noir (don't waste your money on that disappointment), got others too but not a huge amount.
>>
>>12532865
If it is what I think it is, it smelled like some cleaning product.
Maybe try it on your wrist once? Decide for yourself, maybe it will suit you.
But personally, i disliked it a lot.
Other gucci fragrances that I have tried are weird as well, they dont seem to have a good structure. But that might be just me.
And ignore what other guy said. There is absolutely nothing wrong with anything designer as long as it suits you and its worth the money.
You are aware of the fact that every fragrance smells slightly different on everyone, right?

In terms of not being incredibly expensive:
Montale
Annick Goutal
Atelier Cologne
Diptyque
Acqua di Parma
L'Artisan Parfumeur
Penhaligon's
Serge Lutens

In terms of the fragrances themselves
Creed
Bond No 9

Also, a bunch of designer houses have exclusive or prive lines which are definitely worth checking out:
Dior La Collection Privee
Les Exclusifs de Chanel
Tom Ford Private Blend
Hermessence
Armani Prive
Zegna Essenze

Then there is also Guerlain who have fragrances priced at pretty much every level

I love it. Really fantastic summer night fragrance, the mandarin note is definitely not the most natural, it almost has a candied aspect to it but it works. The patchouli and resins in the base set it apart from almost every other 'aquatic' fragrance. Great performance as well
>>
>>12538081
I like it better than Eros and maybe even Sauvage. It's much cleaner and fresher than Eros while maintaining that alluring sweetness. I do enjoy Sauvage, but I think Invictus is a lot less harsh than Sauvage so it beats it out for me

I'm mostly into fragrance because of what the scents evoke, not exactly to wear them. They spark the creativity and new worlds very elegantly. If a fragrance barely evokes anything because it's too basic I'll definitely call it bad. There is This Is Not A Blue Bottle that I would consider buying a bottle and wear though. But I'm still looking, will buy more samples.

If this whole fragrance thing wasn't for me I definitely wouldn't spend so much money on them. People here think I see myself as some sort of super connoisseur or something. It's true that I believe I have better tastes than most but I'm definitely not the guy who knows all about the notes and the technicalities and the industry, not that this interests me all that much to begin with.

And that applies a tiny dot of juice that will barely project. While inverted, I rub the vial over my arm a bit to spread it around more.

Can I get a recommendation? I'm a noob, but I want to get into fragrances.

I'm male, looking for prices on the lower end and I'm usually wearing just 1 spray of Cool Water as an everyday fragrance.
My personal style is something between minimal and preppy, just black, white, gray and sometimes blue. Working in a library, weightlifting for fun.

Pic related is an outfit I might wear

literally what is the point of buying them of you're not going to wear them

are you the autist with the massive sample collection
>>
>>12541463
I just told you why I buy them
>>
>>12541463
He is Samplesperg, yes. And yes, he is exceedingly autistic.
>>
>>12541468
what a stupid thing to spend so much money on
>>12541469
he needs help
>>
>>12541475
no it's not, where else am I going to find them anyway? I dont blindbuy full bottles like a retard
>>
>>12541343
Yeah, this. People shy away from wearing even shit like Aventus because "everyone's wearing it", but the majority of people don't even wear fragrances, and most of those who do aren't educated enough in the topic to recognize specific scents. Hell, I've been a connoisseur for years and I can't often pick out specific fragrances on people, especially considering how different a fragrance can smell from person to person.

When you really think about it, not wanting to wear a fragrance because you're afraid it'll be too common is rather silly.
>>
>>12541481
spending hundreds of dollars on things that you don't even wear is stupid
>>
>>12541481
You don't buy full bottles period.

If you're only buying things to sniff in their vials, why buy fragrance? Why not just buy pure extracts or essential oils or scents for aromatherapy? Why buy scents specifically designed to wear and not wear them?
>>
>>12532615
I had the samples delivered yesterday and I'm gonna go with aventus.

GIT - Very authentic smell and seem to be quite versatile but smells little "flat" for that price.
MI - Definitely best of the samples, a true unisex not just "a fragrance for sex A that can be worn by sex B". Fresh but with just right slightly heavier undertone which isn't similar to the standard drydown you would find in other freshies.
Original Vetiver - smells like urinal cake desu
Royal Mayfair - Smells like garden, has this similar authentic feel liek GIT. Unfortunately the opening has a very prominent note that smells exactly like a throat medicine I used to take as a kid
Virgin Island Water - too much coconut, smells like cleaned toilet
>>
>>12541484
I wear them if I want to and it's otherwise part of the olfactory library, if I need to think about something that might relate to that specific fragrance then it's right there. I can't believe nobody here seems to have a slight idea as to why I might even collect them. Don't call me the autist here.

>>12541487
I dont think you can describe a whole world with only rose absolute

hella autism

this IS a hobby, do you even know what that word means? and it's one of the best when it comes to supporting creativity

>>
>>12541518

Alright, come on now, let's not let Samplesperg ruin another thread. We all know he's autistic, let's just ignore him and move on.

>Thanks, going to check it out.
Don't bother. Anon was trying to be funny. Without knowing weather/season, check out Encre Noire Sport. Normally, I'd say try more sprays, but since you work in a library, I'd recommend keeping application minimal, and on the chest to limit projection. Unless you live in the Middle East somewhere, where fragrance is part of the culture.
>>
>>12541494
>samples delivered yesterday and I'm gonna go with
Far be it from me to tell another anon how to spend their money, but if I may offer a bit of free advice: the reason I get samples is so I can wear a frag multiple times to get a feel for it. How it performs, reacts with my body chemistry, etc. I can't tell you how many times something I liked initially I grew tired of after a while and then the bottle just sits there, unused. If it was something as expensive as a Creed, I'd give the sample multiple wearings over some time to see if that might be the case.
>>
>>12541536
Agreed. Live and let live. Frankly, I find him kind of cute now. Still kind of wish he'd trip, but I can choose to be offended or not by another's opinions. I choose the latter.
>>
>>12541596
This is solid advice. I never get 1/2ml samples, I always get at least 1ml so I can try it 3 or 4 times. It can take time to get a feel for how a fragrance will actually work on you.
>>
>>12541607
I agree. I kind of like messing with him because of how upset he gets about people questioning his "hobby", but it's probably not so good for the continued health of these threads. These are usually pretty good threads, last thing we need is more shitposting.
>>
>>12541596
Thanks, I actually had a number of aventus samples which I've been using for enough time that I'm not worrying I'll grow tired of it. As for the others I just got I just don;t see myself using regularly any of them ( except maybe MI).
>>
>>12541645
(same anon) But I agree with what you said and for me this is especially true with sweeter scents so I'm really curious how MI will be long term in this regard. Seeing how the fruitiness in it is rather lowkey i'm hoping it won't be suffer the same pattern.
>>
>>12540968
longevity is definitely not 2 hours
the similarity to a cheaper frag I can't vouch for tho so u could be right there

It's an embarassing point to start from, but what are some nice tropical fragrances akin to Fiji? Obviously with more depth and in EDT form. Nothing harsh, I just like that smooth, pleasant, tropical scent.

Creed Virgin Island Water maybe?
I saw someone say Fiji smells like D&G The One, but I can't really comment on that.

Was thinking virgin island water, actually. Never heard that about The One and I feel like it's inaccurate, they smell nothing alike.

>>

Yeah the main notes aren't similar so I was pretty confused by the comment. Aparently Fiji smells sort of pina colada like and VIW is the only coconut themed frag that I've tried. Philosykos has coconut also but I can't smell it on my skin.
>>
Just ordered some Dior Sauvage online, worried as fuck though because it's in the 90s here with no signs of stopping. The high heat during shipping/outside before I grab it won't damage the fragrance, will it?
>>
>>12541849
youre pulling my leg if you tell me you get average or better longevity on NP
>>
>>12542565
Imagine if frags couldn't handle everyday temperature variations, including the "rigors" of shipping... Good thing they can.

No, the thing with seasons and frags is more of a perceptual thing, the scent remains the same.

For example, pic related doesn't suit a hot, Summer's day, sunny or otherwise.

Doesn't matter how much you like vetiver and cypress.
>>
>>12542565
You'll be fine. I just got a bottle today that was sitting for a while and it smells like it should. I imagine only prolonged exposure or extreme temperatures would do anything noticeable.

Chill out man, that's just your opinion. Some people prefer a heavier base to their frags

I honestly dont understand why everyone's obsessed with longevity these days. The whole point of fragrances smelling amazing is because they dont last

Not at all

There is also one zoologist fragrance which to me basically smells like heavy tropical fruits and coconut. Its bat or beaver i think. Just be prepares that their scents are not easy to wear and the coconut in this one is actually its saving grace
>>
>>12542745
10/10

>>12542786
It's Bat that has the tropical fruit notes. It also has very heavy earthy, musky, leathery notes. Definitely not what you'd be looking for if you want a light, smooth, tropical frag.
>>
Does anyone else use a spray of a fragrance before bed? Sounds weird as fuck, but I love doing it with comforting scents like YSL L'homme.
