I worked there, hated the brand but they seemed to actually care about their employees unlike other places I've worked.
Their shorts and belts are nice though if you're into WASP-core. I would have liked to burn every single one of those Goddamned long sleeve whale shirts tho.
all lives matter :^)

The whale is cute, got a hat from them.
Finding out it triggers manchildren makes it better.

Literally WASP the clothing company

Not exactly. It's more of a preppy brand that upper class Southerners cling to; of which, many of them don't know what Hermes/j.press is. It's still accessible to the middle-class though.
From my observations, this is what I can gleam about Vineyard Vines in my town: It's preppy wear, so people mainly wear it as an easy way to group themselves in the social strata. The brand image will almost always take precedent over the fit–anyone who disagrees with this are, more than likely, either ill-informed, dim-witted, or both.
So you have the upper-class types who probably care more about the power-trip feeling it gives them from having their friend circles understand that they're hot shit & are loyal because they're brand loyal vs the middle class peep who has a Southern Tide hat and a VV button down.
Then you have the middle-class wearer who uses it mainly to blend in whenever they know they'll be attending an event with people of higher social standing, or when they just want to feel WASPY for psychological reasons.
Vineyard Vines profited off of the vacuum that the more subdued classic prep style created by utilizing bold colors and designs as their staple. Southern preps like it because it was a big "fuck you" to the prep-style Northern Ivy Leagues fostered.
I have no problem with VV—I'm all for people utilizing clothing and image as a tool to find like minded friends. Just like I have no problem with people who publicly express their dissenting opinion in regards to preppy wear, and ultimately utilize their rhetoric and world-view as a tool to find a like-minded clique.
Regarding the fit: It's alright—I own a couple pairs of their club shorts that I don't care about fucking up, which is a sort of culture shock around here. So I fuck with it. You will always find something cheaper with a very similar fit that doesn't have the brand name; the bulk of that extra money that you're spend is a convenience fee for simple social stratification.
help, which new balance should I get?
>>12489210
Ok. How do we get there?

It's a lifestyle brand.

VLONE NO VINEYARD
>>12489418
you make this board good
is it a popular brand in socal?
>>12489472
Just don't get the ones that your dad has, because then we'd be matching. In your case though, I'd say skip New Balance altogether and opt in for some Nike Air Monarchs. That way, you'll have the durability of a New Balance shoe, but retain that unmatchable quality & design that's only found in Nike sneaks.
Get in now while you still can, because by the end of this year, everyone will be wearing them in place of their normal beaters.
