Coffee barely works for me unless I throw a ton of sugar in there (and i'm trying to avoid simple/refined carbs in general on top of IF)

I have to take antihistamines in the morning because they make me both sleepy and unable to actually fall asleep which makes the whole thing significantly worse

Sounds like it might be best for you to eat a small amount in the morning since it helps with the meds. What do you typically have for breakfast? You could do one sustaining meal in the morning and one other meal later in the day.
Also, if you take periodic breaks from coffee, your caffeine tolerance will drop and coffee will be more effective.

You're right. I go with green tea because it still has some caffeine, just significantly less. I have a hard time cutting it out completely, because it helps me start my day. Green tea is a little more gentle on the caffeine, plus it has other good qualities like antioxidants. But your point is totally valid, especially if someone is okay with going cold turkey on caffeine.

Apples are the best because they're low cal, high in water, and take a long time to eat thus making you feel more full. Other than that, I'm partial to berries. A cup of strawberries is kind of a lot of food but also pretty low cal and blueberries are just a god tier snack food.

There's no guide for staying flexible because it means something different for everyone. Basically, eat when you need the energy, take a break from restricting when your cravings get too unbearable (this means staying at/just below maintenance cals, NOT binging), getting into a rhythm of what and when to eat over a period of time, and so on

After a week and a half I got used to no food in the AM and now I don't even want to eat.

Biggest realization intermittent fasting gave me is that eating isn't always the best way to stay satiated. If I eat breakfast, I'm hungrier and 10am than I am if I didn't eat breakfast. Now end of the day I for sure eat more in that last meal than I would if I've been eating all day, but not as much more as you might suspect.

Anyone here running a DNP cycle? There's nothing that will make you lose weight faster but it's an industrial fertilizer and will kill you if you take a little too much.

If you're used to the sweetness of it, I think you'd make the shift easier if you skip snacks entirely and stay with meals only. Meals, unlike snacks, can have an almost unlimited ceremonial aspect to it, to make it indulgent and satisfactory - unlike snacks.
If you're used to it for the constant external supply of blood sugar and fear the dips in between meals, then I also suggest you skip snacking entirely and do meals only. Doesn't take long to get used to.
If this all just scares you and you're afraid it will be too cold, boring and famishing, then sure, go ahead and snack. It's true that apples aren't too bad. But when you want to see real progress, and make your exercise efforts really count, then skip the fucking snacks.
It's cutting, not bulking. Also, a neat way to prevent the urge to snack is to make sure to incorporate fibers into meals. But I bet you know that.

you should use a calorie calculator online and try to stick to a number of calories you're comfortable with (and thats effective of course) by using myfitnesspal or something. would also recommend planning meals beforehand and doing groceries only when full. If you try hardcore fasting or dieting immediately you probably won't keep it up for the long run. good luck anon!

I prefer one real meal which is dinner, and a small one in the 10 o clock break at uni. Apart from that, I'm all about coffee with milk. Occasionally I get something in between, but I always plan not to have any so that if for some reason I end up having something anyway, it's okay because I made room for it, you know? Plan for 700 kcal a day so to have room for 300 unexpected.

It means there is X grams of fats and Y of them are saturated. The fat count is the total, there are no net fats like you have with carbs.

The carb thing is only because we can't digest some carbs (fiber, sweeteners) so they're there but don't count (but american labels list them in the total presumably just to fuck with you), we digest protein and fat just fine so the same thing doesn't apply

One of the things I really like about being thin is that it's fast to warm up my body. It doesn't take a lot of exercise or it doesn't take very long in a hot shower. I remember back when I was fat and I'd been out long in the cold, the fat on my hips would get cold and it would take forever to heat up after I got inside. I could do exercise and feel warm, but my hips would keep feeling cold forever because just as fat keeps heat, it sure as fuck also keeps cold. When I got tired of having cold hips, I'd surrender to go take a long steamy shower and direct the beam onto my hips. Looking back, that looks particularly pathetic because it's so ironic: people usually say "hurr durr you need body fat to keep warm" but body fat literally keeps you cold, too. I think it's very unlikely IF would ever become mainstream because people are addicted to sugar, which makes it very hard for them to do IF without breaking that addiction. If there was really a strong push to lower sugar content in foods and do proper education about nutrition, then intermittent fasting could certainly gain popularity, but right now we literally have lobbyists that sell health food that has 10g of sugar in a 1/4 cup serving. Even a lot of the """"health"""" foods sold at places like Whole Foods are loaded with sugar. Then on top of that there is this stigma about skipping meals, with Western sayings like "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" and "eat small meals often to stay full and fueled!"

That said, I was asked the other day about how I lost weight by a vendor that sells to me. I normally am not honest and don't mention I do IF, but this time - for whatever reason - I was and it turned out he was just starting to try it also. Technical engineer type, obviously when he decided he wanted to lose weight he did some Googling and research. But normies it would be very unlikely they'd go that route.

Ah, yeah, that's true also. Hard to sell not doing something. Even with keto diet there is plenty to sell, and obviously with the mealcuck 6-times-a-day type shit there is a boatload to sell.

IF is just simple. That's why I find it so easy to stick with. Keto diet worked great for me too, but it's got some work involved in making it happen. Have to shop for special foods, eating at a restaurant is possible but not as easy. With intermittent fasting, I generally eat very low carb when I'm at home/shopping, but if I go to a restaurant or want to eat something carby for a special treat I'm not really screwing myself. It's less to think about.

As a side note for being /thinspo/, IF also makes it look like I eat way more than I do. When I go to dinner with family and stuff they don't realize that's all I've eaten all day so they just fall for the high metabolism and exercise meme. With keto, if you have any pressure for getting "too thin" from family, having a special diet is certain to set off the alarms.

I ate better and tracked my calories, i lifted at the beginning but haven't recently because of work and school. I didn't start a fasting diet until recently.

I started with lifting 2 hours a day and eating 2,300 calories. When i got to 242, i started a 10 hour shift with 1 hour long commute each way, so no more lifting. Cut calories to 2,000 and got down to 224. Twelve days ago i hit 224, for a few days now i've been fasting at pic related, weighed naked today at 208.

You really just need to show yourself how quick the weight can come off, and you can eat good food while doing it. Taco Bell, McDonalds, even subway foods are fucking LOADED with calories. Just don't eat out, track your calories, drink tons of water and coffee.

After you lose 10 or 20 pounds, it's smooth sailing. Weight will come off like nothing. You'll see how much control you have over it the week after you commit to cutting calories.

As for the diet just eat 1kcals a day, the healthier the better. You can experiment on when eating the food throughout the day, whether in snacks or in a meal or two which might be easier or harder

I started counting my calories and doing IF (16/8) in early November. I usually try to go 1.5kcal in the 8 hr window. I weighed 230 at the start of Nov and I'm now currently 200 atm

I'm guessing it's a bit early to start doing 20/4 and 1kcal instead of 16/8 and 1.5kcal? I'm wondering because I feel like my weight loss is going a bit too slow for my liking right now... should I just be patient and continue, or go on and try 20/4 and 1kcal? I rarely feel hungry anymore outside of the 8 hr window

unless ur super short or something you could keep doing 1.5k daily and reach thinspo territory np. Weightloss becomes a slow and steady thing beyond the initial explosion, thats just how it goes. That said if u want to do 1k or even lower and don't feel like it will leave you without enough energy to live your life, go for it. Just make sure you're still getting decent nutrition or consider a multivitamin.

just be patient my brother, I started doing IF and lifting at the same time didn't drop weight
I went on vacation for 3 weeks and ate like 1k cals and walked around like 6 hours a day, came back and dropped 10

tldr up exercise if you wanna lose faster

Honestly I had the same issue and you just need to push through it, once you get used to not having them healthy food will become tasty

You never stop liking refined carbs but you kinda forget they exist and start focusing on the next best thing (on the other hand I find that it's possible to get used to not eating sugary things so much it's impossible to go back because everything with added sugar just tastes too sweet, like the difference between regular food and your average dessert is too great for my tastebuds to handle)

Maybe try not counting calories for like 2 weeks or so and eating lots of veggies and shit so you only have to fight the cravings and not actual hunger until you get used to it

I have that issue where pants are loose on my everything except outer tights (but not inner), they stick out too much compared to my hips I guess, so I don't know if I could squeeze into smaller ones despite looking like an auschwitz wearing fatty clothes

There are male thinspo and even dedicated blogs you just need to include male in the tag since men are less likely to both label their inspiration pics as thinspo and hang out on tumblr (though I just entered the general thinspo tag and almost instantly found 2 males so maybe you're just out of luck)
That said they have an issue of posting people who are attractive + low BF% but not necessarily literally thin, like ottermode and stuff
Girl pics get the same thing with chicks who are average weight and probably BF% too but are toned and pear shaped enough to get a flat stomach etc. so it's not really a male thinspo thing but it's more prevalent there
