Basically, my entire wardrobe is bullshit streetwear "grails." I have a bunch of Supreme stuff I've collected over the years worth a few pretty pennies, but whenever I attempt to assemble outfits, everything feels discombobulated.
I want to sell everything I own—and I mean everything—and assemble a more timeless, versatile and uncluttered wardrobe but I don't know where to start. I'm seeing this as an opportunity to reframe my way of thinking about everything I oWhat are some essential pieces that I should have in my wardrobe?
I am a cyclist so I rather admire techwear, but I am aware it is expensive. I also like designers like Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, Rick Owens...but all that stuff is way to expensive for me. I just like well designed clothes I suppose.
As a broke college student who appreciates quality over quantity, how do I keep a low cost-to-quality ratio? Much thanks in advanced /fa/!

T-shirt and jeans.
Wool socks.
Beaters.
Jacket.
Winter parka.
Winter boots.
Scarf.
Winter cap.
Insulated leather gloves.
Sunglasses.
Did I miss anything?
You can't build a quality based wardrobe on a college budget dude. Just take the L and get some H&M basics, black, grey, white, brown and navy then carry on from there

some of those make you wonder if they have any idea what they're talking about

If you know better, tell us. Or write a fashion blog.
Minimalism is aesthetic suicide
Stop playing it safe and be creative

How is minimalism aesthetic suicide? And I don't mean minimalism in terms of the clothing design, just minimal in terms of my closet selection.
>>12345243
Sounds like your biggest problem is not knowing who you are and what you want to project to the world.

37 is actually fine if they're including 14 pairs of underwear in that number.

actually not bad
Well well well, something I can actually give some advice on!
OP, I will tell you this, if you expect your style to change significantly this may not be the best road for you. If you're still experimenting with what is authentic to you then you are going to have a hard time with this.
2 shoes (shoes like pottery, saucony bullets)
3 pants (linen pajama pants, american eagle khaki/jean things I got from a friend and levi 511's [although to be honest I'm looking to add another pair of jeans and a pair of shorts])
4 shirts (a white button up, a beige button up, a floral shirt, and a jean shirt)
1 hoodie
2 sweaters
1 jacket
3 hockey jerseys
5 tees
11 pairs of underwear
8 pairs of socks
I have 41 pieces in my wardrobe and it's BASIC. I'm not particularly fashionable but even if I was I wouldn't be turning heads. The minimal wardrobe is for the person who doesn't have time to fuck with picking out clothes all the time. You just want something that will mesh together seamlessly with a couple of statement pieces.
Here's how I got here
>determine your lifestyle
what sort of job do you have? are your hobbies indoors or out? Do you desire to impress of have function?
>pick a color scheme
typically two neutrals and a warm or cool color. Remember the more colors you pick away from neutrals the harder it will be to "dark pick" an outfit.
>determine the basics
tees, shirts, bottoms, socks, shoes
>pick a number of how many you want to have
Then slowly start to reduce that number. Don't shock wave yourself and just get rid of a bunch of stuff like I did otherwise you will hate your clothes and probably binge shop some shit.
remember though, minimalism is a lifestyle not a fad. If you're in this for the novelty of having just a few items of clothing you're going to have a hard time.

oh and as far as keeping a low cost-quality ratio there's only two ways to do it. Try it out yourself and check out reviews for the product. How much is your dollar worth to you? How long will your items last before they need replacement? Those are dependent on how you live your life and nobody can tell you how much your dollar is worth to you.
