I've been up all night on vyvanse and I feel like I should contribute my experience with these types.

I'm 6'1" male with olive skin, /fit/, and very handsome (you'll have to take my word for it ;). I am also mentally ill (bipolar type II, depression, ADHD the works) and I'm heavily medicated. Generally speaking though I keep it together and I have a car, my own place, and a full time job. - just to give you some background.

Anyways I've been with several of these girls (all of them I found on tinder) and I'm not entirely sure how these girls became such a thing. While I don't think it's entirely fair to make gross generalizations about them I can confirm that my experiences have been similar to the ones described ITT.

Girl #1:

Ultimately I think they are the result of narcissistic personality traits, 3rd wave feminism, and self hating/self destructive tenancies brought out by depression and or addiction. They dye their hair so many times that it looks dead, smoke cigarettes, get tattoos and piercings, and generally present themselves to the world in a manner that shows everyone looking (even from a passing glance) that they don't care if men find them attractive. It's like the 'indie hipsters' of 2010-2012 became even more depressed and ironic.

I think the idea is that they intentionally want to make themselves ugly to men because they project their own problems onto men in general. Even though they intentionally make themselves unattractive they still know that men will fuck them and they don't have any plans for the future so one night stands are ok to them.

I'm over 30, so not in that sadgirl/rapper goth generation, but used to hang out with artsy goths and darker types in my early 20s and many of them had actual mental illnesses and the style was the expression of it. I also had a depression, some of my friends had eating and personality disorders and depression. All diagnosed. We made new friends in the mental hospital and I can say that craziness and style are somewhat related. You can't say that a person is crazy because of the style but it works the other way around - if a person is crazy, they rarely wear happy or light clothing and they are more likely to smoke. Almost all girls with eating disorders smoked.
Those sadgirl tumblr girls really remind me of myself and my friends back then. I believe they have real depression or disorders but are glorifying it, instead of curing.

It depends on a person because some people look really good with dark hair and darker or deeper colors. Conventionally attractive stacies also follow trends and some of them make them actually less attractive, like matching bright colors, considering they rarely match and you have to have a lot of money to have a huge wardrobe which teenagers don't have. Black, grey, deep red and navy are just practical.
