I'm going to grow my hair out after 7 years of really short

I did the same two years ago. I just waited until I had a decent length and cut the sides by myself with a hair trimmer.
When I had the right length I went to a hair stylist like most people do.

If you're not pleased with the results while growing your hear, wear a cap, hat or beanie or whatever you like.

You can do that yourself. Also, get a hat or cap or something to cover your hair! You cannot avoid the weird looking phase but you can hide it.

There is no magical answer, just wait.
Everyone who grows their hair out has to go through the struggle of not having the perfect cut while waiting it out.

I'm in the same boat as you OP, my last haircut was in 2016. It looks pretty shaggy some days but literally oh well

long hair looks like complete shit unless you're a beach hunk or otherwise really fit but with a cool atmosphere to yourself.

keep it short, people will take you more seriously

I've had long hair for about a year now and I'm thinking about buzzing it. Can't decide if I should go for a #2 or #3.

i am growing my hair for 3 years now.I wear it in a ponytail.Now i do not know if i should keep it or if i should cut it to a short side part.Heres a pic of how I look now,with my hair untied.Any advice?Should I keep it?

I buzzed my head and grew my hair out to nipple length a few years back. I've grown my hair out very long before and here's my one piece of advice:

do NOT tie your hair up. It'll make it look dry and it'll fuck your ends. I ended up cutting my hair (growing it out again now) because I thought it looked disgusting when it could have all been avoided by just not tying my hair up and damaging it so badly.
