i have long hair. the worst part about it was growing it out. nothing you can do to speed it up. half an inch a month so 6 inches a year. but while waiting for it to be long take decent care of it so it isnt all fucked up from being on your head for 2 years. just be patient with it

Pretty much this. There are things you can do to help. A good diet will help it grow more healthily, leading to fewer split ends/breakages. Keep your vitamins/protein intake up, don't put shit in your body, drink lots of water. Externally, don't wash your hair too often (but don't let it get dirty/salty), and keep some leave in conditioner handy.

You will occasionally need haircuts for maintenance. You can reduce the need for trims by following the above, but you'll still need a couple of cuts a year so you can look good while it's growing.

Coconut oil or argan oil rubbed into your scalp for half an hour before showering is really good for your hair growth due to nutrition. It should speed up growth fairly noticeably

My hair grows about an inch a month. I eat a lot of eggs and nuts and fish, which are full of healthy fats (also biotin in eggs and maybe the other two). I also take lysine supplements but I'm not sure if it affects my hair or not I use it to keep from breaking out.
