Yes. Salt helps your retain water. If your fat gets fat looking, you've gone too far. Might also skew your "weight" loss for a couple days as you start holding on to more water which allows your body to do its thing. Water weight is no joke and can be up to 5 lbs.

I'm 6'2 and 125-30ish but my body is pic related (pls no bully), I'm kinda sad about it. I'm working out every other day, and trying to eat enough calories, however, I'm still not eating enough. I'm the same height. Went thinspo, didn't look good. For guys, being rail thin looks the best (proportionally) if you're tall. I started lifting because I felt self conscious of how fucking skinny I was. Been lifting for 3ish months, gained mass, it feels awesome not the starving kid eating salad anymore. I look better than I ever have now, you can get fit without being bulky. HMU if you have any questions.

I like being thin because of the way it makes me look, ultimately. But it's clear that being thin, at least not anorexically, is healthier than being an obese land-whale regardless, isn't it?

Look into mewing. It certainly made a difference for me. Granted, I was 16 when I started so the growth process was not complete. If you're past puberty it might not have much of an alternating effect on you, but why not attempt? All it implicates is that you actively place your tounge on your palette (particularly the posterior third) and hold your teeth together, as well as having your lips sealed.

Yeah. The lower set of front teeth will be right behind the upper set. Your molars should be touching. I'm not sure if clenching is necessary but speaking for myself, I'm quite forceful with the closure of the mouth.

The carb are good but that protein is way too high. When you eat high protein, your liver can turn it into glucose in a process called neoglucogenesis which defeats the entire point of LCHF. Aim for 75% fat 5% carbs 20% protein or thereabouts. Unless your pointedly trying to build you body then a bit higher than that.

butter (esp. kerrygold, which is grassfed so more micronutrients), and nuts are my go-tos. I eat butter straight, which is weird for the mainstream but not at all uncommon for LCHF who are eating high fat on purpose. As for nuts, I used to eat hella peanut butter but I've switched to sunflower seeds since I learned about the aflotoxin endemic to nuts. Avocados are also high fat but, for me at least, are too expensive to make a daily thing although today I'm having guacamole, some sesame seeds, and some butter.

Avoid cheese. It's got too much protein for the macro ratio we are trying to hit for weight loss. Although I imagine it would be useful when it comes to body recomposition.

I've never actually hit the ratio I quoted but its what I aim for. I currently have absolutely no idea how people actually hit it but I've seen it done, pic related

How much do you know about the logistics of LCHF? Too much fat and you might as well have eaten carbs because your liver will break it down into glucose just like it does carbs.

Female, 5'3'', plateauing at around 55kg (which is average weight for my height, and I'm pretty proud from my progress from 66kg of August last year).

I've been drinking 3.5L of water every day. Recently I kind of stopped counting my calories but I'm wondering if it'd just be worth doing that again.

For breakfast I have black coffee with either greek yoghurt and a handful of granola cereal, or a slice of raisin toast and marmalade.

Lunch and dinner vary but I eat vegetables and fruit everyday, and I get a lot of meat from my mum but I kind of want to slow down on the meat eating.

I did try IF a few weeks back and I did well (I got no results, but I didn't actually get hungry at all during the day, after having coffee for breakfast and just sipping water to stave off any cravings or temptations).

I probably don't exercise enough. I don't know how to bring it back into my schedule, though.

What could you guys recommend?

I've been down to ~110 but not sure if I looked good at that weight or not because of body dysmorphia.

It really depends on you, what you like, and what looks good on your body. Depending on where your fat is distributed etc, you'll look better at different weights.

If I were you I would re evaluate at 130 lbs. Keep an eye on your body measurements and take progress pics to compare with (start now).

Also do some exercise, it makes your body look better and lets you eat more.

OK so since you took the abuse like a bitch, ill try to insult you a bit more under the guise of ´helping´. just like the grade school bullies have done to you, your whole life.

But seriously buddy, heres some advice.

I actually have the opposite problem, I´m loud and douchey and I feel like many times people are grateful to get away from me but dare not say it, because of my social dominance.

Social dominance is ultimately just parlor tricks, but it is mostly subliminal stuff that youre not aware youre doing. Like how your legs are together like a kid who has just been shamed in front of the whole class. Youre hunched in, trying to make yourself as small as possible. On a subconscious level, youre trying to hide yourself, avoiding the predators like the prey you are.

As for the eye contact, in this picture youre actively avoiding the mirror. Like youre scared of it and it took a lot of courage just to take this shot. If you cant look yourself dead in the eyes, how are you supposed to look other people in the eyes?

Start by forcing yourself to do stuff like lean way back in a chair, spread your legs. Never put your hands together or fidget and keep them out of your pockets. Make yourself have prolongued eye contact until the other person breaks away. Youre probably not bow legged so why do you stand with your legs pointed inwards? When you walk, have your head way back and fucking strut. It sounds dumb and youll look a little silly but honestly eggagerate your strut until it becomes natural.

The first couple of weeks this will feel so scary and uncomfortable bur really force it. When you catch yourself hunching in, readjust yourself. Do this until it becomes second nature.

This will honestly help so much. I know this because like every other bully I was once an insecure beta male and now I project my self hatred onto others.

Now, friends share their lunch money with friends, so how much do you have for me, nerd?

uh, im really sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but i tried asking elsewhere and didnt really get a response, and im really worried and really really sad.
so like 1 and a bit years ago i was hospitalised, and my dr. prescribed me seroquel (along with a few other meds). she told me that it wont make me gain weight as long as i eat healthily, and stupidly, i believed her and agreed to take them.
its been like a year and a half now, and ive gained a huge amount of weight (around 70lbs)
I got really lazy and constantly hungry for the first while of being on those meds, so i let myself gain some weight while i was an inpatient (and also bc, yknow, you arent really allowed to control your own food in hosp and the thiamine made me hungry too)
well, anyway, once i was discharged and i noticed i gained so much weight, i started trying really hard to lose it in all the normal ways, eating <500 a day and going running etc etc, but no matter what i do literally keep rapidly gaining weight.
i stopped taking my meds like a month ago (apart from zoloft) but the side effects havent even started to fade. im still gaining weight at the same rate despite eating a controlled diet.
is there anything you guys would recommend trying for me to lose the weight i put on while i was taking the medicine? anyone have any experience with this? and is it okay for me to stop my meds? i just cant stand being like this...
im not blaming seroquel for my letting myself get fat and gross, just mentioning it so people know more abt my situation so i can get advice.
any advice would be so, so appreciated. It sounds vain and dumb but i dont even look in mirrors anymore bc im so disgusted by my body.

for context,
im female, height 5"8, current weight 176lbs. before being hospitalised i was around 108lbs.

my daily medication is: 200mg seroquel, 200mg zoloft, 600mg thiamine, 666mg acamprosate, disulfiram 200mg.

usually during the day ill eat:
plain coffee, diet soda, tea(with sweetener), sugar-free juice and either a packet of nissin demae spicy flavour instant ramen, or a couple pieces of bread with hot sauce and salt on it.
i also often have some vegetable flavoured cup-a-soup and sometimes later some more hot sauce just on its own, depends if im hungry or not.
if i dont have any ramen or bread at home then ill have 2 fried eggs with hot sauce and salt as the main meal instead.
occasionally if fruits or veg i like are on sale at the supermarket ill buy them and have them, but pretty much i just eat junk. do you think id find it easier to lose weight if i tried to eat a healthier diet?

Okay
1. read the /fit/ sticky, it's good (don't bother with the actual board though especially the fatty threads)

2. do you have a food scale? if now buy one and measure literally everything you eat (even packaged foods that have weight on the cover because it's often a bit off and if you eat a lot of different foods every day it might add up)

3. start by eating at 500 kcal deficit (should be around 1200-1400kcal for you if you're sedentary) and gradually increase to 1000 if you feel you can do it, don't bother with eating below 500 kcal and shit like this, it's hard and unhealthy

Also doing everything gradually helps, like at first you can focus on eating healthy things without paying attention to calories and decrease the intake when you're used to it

You might want to check out intermittent fasting, if you want to try the best way to do it is log your natural eating window and add an hour of fast every day or two until you reach your desired time

4. make a habit of exercising every single day, it's good for your brain too - don't think of it as something you do to loose weight but rather something that will help you stay off drugs or help them work better if you get back (if you're sedentary normally just walking for 30-60min a day is fine for a start)

Junk food makes you hungry too, especially sugars and refined carbs


Also if/when you reach your desired weight you need to still watch your intake and exercise/eating habits, especially if you go back on meds, hardest part of weightloss is maintaining and for most people it creeps back in

If you want to get on meds eventually tell your shrink you have a history of weight gain on them and if you could try something that doesn't increase appetite that much, your doctor doesn't want to give you diabetes and stuff , they will usually agree if a patient has concerns like that

Are you restricting really tightly? It seems like the people who restrict too much are the ones who end up binging a lot.

I also find it hard to eat moderately though, I go in spurts where I overeat. Not binge per say, but eat above my calories. Also it seems like once I overeat one day, then I'm much more likely to overeat for a three or four days. Then once I force myself to have some good, under calorie, days, I end up doing better. It's all a cycle for me.

My older sister, 25 now was hospitalized just like you when she was in college and gained a bunch of weight after, not as much as you but still. She switched to vegan, eats as much as she wants and no longer has a eating disorder while being thinspo. She's also prob around 5'7/5'8 like you.

I'm on high dose zoloft, valium and lithium so I understand the weightgain stress even though you eat correctly.

Maybe talk to your doctor about lowering your dosage of Thiamine as it is sometimes used for increasing poor appetite and it plays the role of metabolizing carbohydrates into energy for your body to use and/or store. It also has a recommended daily intake of 30mg a day with severe deficiency of 300mg a day so 600mg is quite high. I'm studying Nutrition and Exercise Physiology and work in pharmacy but cannot advise for anything pharmaceutical. There maybe a link between what your medication is and the body using up excessive amount of B1 whilst metabolising the medication.

I would go and talk to a pharmacist about your medication and side effects.
I personally went over to a more keto based diet and noticed a huge difference.

I spoke with my pharmacist and altered my eating around that. I do IF of 16 hour fast with 8 hour eating window 10am- 6pm or 11am - 7pm.

Big drink of water w/ Zoloft on empty stomach in the morning. It can cause diarrhea for some people but as I get IBS with my anxiety it means I now don't have to take a laxative and my doctor has no issues with how I stage my tablet taking. I did have to slowly adjust the times I take my tablets as to not cause any unbalance.

Lithium and valium with proper food, not just a coffee and normally in a meal with high protein and high fat (Grilled chicken w/ avocado salsa and sweet potato)

it almost seems like it is the eating itself that is the toughest for me. i seem to function better without food, as i feel less hunger if i look at the timespan of an entire day. that is why i always go from almost starving to binging. i always fall into the same stupid trap. i'd make both a great anorexic and an obese pig.

One meal a day is optimal for weight loss (look up intermittent fasting), but you need to count calories even if you do it (best with a kitchen scale, weigh everything) - it's actually possible to maintain or even gain eating one meal a day if you just eat what you want, most people loose just limiting their eating window but some will just end up eating more calorie dense foods or full blown binging
Read the pastebin and you can read the /fit/ sticky too (though a lot of things don't apply to you since normal people want to gain muscle not loose it)

If you don't care about health and fat gain and only want to loose muscles you can probably try actual starving since you don't have to fear occasional binges - you might regain some weight lost but they won't make you gain muscle unless you couple them with exercise, they'll just turn you skinnyfat
