Hi /thinspo/, 180 cm and ~81kg here. I've been interested in losing weight for months now, and I managed to, I've lost like 5 kgs in ~3 months, slowly, but mostly because it's hard for me to maintain the low cal "diet", once I realized that I lost weight I started eating tons, TONS of shit I got fat again :(

How do you guys do it? I've never been skinny in my life but I want to change that, but it's just too hard for me to change my lifestyle.

Unfortunately I'm still kind of uncertain myself about what foods, broadly speaking, are good and bad, although I suppose I've been doing some similar thinking on stuff I gave up for Lent and some other problem foods I've noticed. Like, for example, eating chicken tenders (yes, I know) without a sauce just isn't something I ever really did, so I reasoned that there's no point in ordering chicken tenders because I don't like them (without sauce, but that part's not as important). I guess you could call it a kind of doublethink.

That post really just started out as "drink water, don't drink shit with calories in it" but then I threw on some reasons for why not to drink other shit that I've noticed myself about them and it just got sort of artsy/hypnosis-y from there.

I don't have a solid diet, but I want to start following one (again). Today I ate some cold vegetarian pizza from yesterday, 3 slices, for lunch I ate 1 portion of fried fish with guacamole and a patty. I've drank a lot of water too and took 2 pills of Salmon Oil.

I know I'm eating too much, I just gotta learn to control myself. I think I'll be taking a fruit and coffee for breakfast, then whatever there is for lunch, hopefully without or low in carbs, and maybe fruit again or eggs for dinner.

It would actually take literally impossible amounts of food in one setting to just gain a pound. Most of what you gain from eating is waterweight and the bloating from all the sugar.

I eat maintenance on the 5 days and just fast on the 2. It's actually so much easier, because when I do get to eat I can eat normally and it's way easier to just not eat an entire day then to continually stay under a deficit, once I start eating I just want more.

Lads, /fit/izen here, just wanna say it's great that you want to lose weight and be thin, but if you don't do some kind of exercise there's a high chance you will just become a smaller version of your currently skinnyfat self. Merely cutting calories with no exercise will decrease your muscle mass, and the less your muscle mass the more your fat will "hang". AT THE VERY LEAST do core exercises and stretching so you can have the strength to hold a good posture - you could do something like yoga and get two birds stoned at once. I'm not saying you need to lift cos I know you don't wanna be muscley, but you seem to be conflating WEIGHT with BF%. I'm pretty sure it's the latter that you want.

If you go the gym do "face pulls". Otherwise get a resistance band and do pic related type thing. Strengthening the back of our shoulders will pull them backwards. More info here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2VQ_WZ8Bto

Stretching is arguably even more important for posture though. If it's your shoulders you're worried around specifically do "shoulders dislocates" with your resistant band (google it; you don't actually dislocate your shoulders). This stretches the front of your shoulders and chest - the tightness of which is what pulls your shoulders forward.

Alternatively just do yoga.

Was 172cm 61kg some months ago, now I'm at 58kg and I've been doing a low carb high fat high protein diet for the past 20 days, the problem is I usually eat about 800 calories a day, 1000 max, not because I restrict myself but because i'm satisfied with that

My BMR is around 1700 cals but i go to the gym three times a week so it's a little bit higher weekly, could eating like this induce starvation mode? Or is that a meme? I was told on /fit/ fat general that i shouldn't eat less than 500 cals from my BMR but I honestly find it difficult to eat more, when I was bigger i used to be so because i ate shit like cookies or sweets which are not really filling but now that i'm having whole food i find myself stuffed at 1000 cals, what should i do? I really don't want to forcefeed myself and i feel pretty good on a low carb diet

the important thing is to head in the right direction. begin eating natural, solid, satisfying nutritious foods with good protein/fiber/fat amounts. try to scale down your sugar and carbs. can be gradual, adjust it over time. just find things that meet those critera

cut the shit out first. sodas, pasteries, pizza etc. you need time to ween yourself off years of conditioned eating in the wrong way. take your time, dont feel bad. its a process. aim to head in the right direction. one good replacemen habit at a time, good luck.

e-discover how your body (your personal body) makes energy and responds to foods.

the first "trap" to escape is using food as a kind of remedy to a bad state of mind. this is all the cookies, cakes, sweets, etc.

these sorts of foods have no value. zero. it doesn't matter that every fucking kid had cake on their birthday. its just pure shit,.

think of the birthday party menu: pepsi, cake and potato chips wow. no no no no no

just eliminate them clean off. just throw them the fuck away for good. dont ever fuck with that shit. its the product of a childhood gone awry.

let me put it like this:

say the meal is roast beef with a side of mash potatoes and broccoli, gravy, etc. dessert is pie.

the first exercise to go through is to "eliminate dessert" from your life. its an exercise because its a concept of thought. you can have TWO plates of the roast beef and gravy, you can have THREE bowls of the mashed potatoes if you wish, but NO DESSERT. see?

you take the dessert fucking OUT. it is SHIT, just FORGET IT. forget being satisfied by it. forget craving it. forget feeling empty without it. shove another fucking spoonful of broccoli in your mouth and a long sip of water.

its about growing up unfortuately. think adult food. adults eat roast beef. lean, substantial, gives you REAL energy, not toddler zipping around the house after too much pepsi energy.

just mediate on how to achieve energy and satisfaction without the SHIT. that is the exercise, and I'm still working on it. the longest bio-chemical experiment in discovering how to hack your own stomach/brain feedback.

what is truly good for you is not unknown. you know what is good for you already. consciously choose it and have as much as you'd like of the GOOD

the key in essence is to never feel deprived. switch the pieces around under the nose of your conditioned body and it will never think twice of that missing cake after a meal

My body is a medical nightmare, short story shorter i've always being quite overweight. Last year I moved in with my thinspo af bf and finally started doing something about it. I'm pretty short so this wouldn't be an extreme weight for me, but i wouldn't be reaching the minimum calorie intake and all of the diets i've seen around 1000kcal keep mentioning starvation mode and such

i'm not overweight, just slightly chubbier than skinny fat. is a 1000 calorie diet really that bad? Will I be able to maintain a healthy, nutritious diet this way?

It's okay, people are on lower ones here actually, it really depends on your TDEE, 500kcal deficit is pretty standard and ok

You'll probably need to take some vitamins and plan your meals around protein otherwise it's fine (i recommend logging your meals in cronometer if you cake about nutritional value)
If you want to get everything from food alone it might be impossible depending on how big you are though

The pool doesn't open until May, but generally, during the summers, that's what I do. I can only do it in the evening or morning, though because RA meds make you super sunburn prone. online BMR/TDEE calculators are moo moo poo poo. The best way to calculate your actual caloric needs is to eat a set amount of food for a week daily and then track how much you lose. Maybe 2-3 weeks is better to account for water weight/constipation. For every lb/week you lose, that is how close to 500 calories a day UNDER your actual need you are. I.e. 1lb a week = 500cal daily deficit, .5lb a week = 250cal daily deficit, etc. Anything else is just going to blow smoke up your butt.
