I think Hedi will stay put for a good amount of time and just do photography. His shots of The Lemon Twigs were really nice, so I'm glad he's doing that. Obviously would be nice to see him design again but with that Kering money in his pocket I think he's just going to chill and do whatever the fuck he wants.

so saint laurent became associated with their rtw

in 97, hedi was given full creative control over mens when they relaunched rive gauche saint laurent


ysl was meant to be for the haute couture, saint laurent was associated with ready to wear


when hedi came in, the business model and industry had already established rtw as the primary business, and out of respect to ysl's haute couture legacy, changed the name to slp
but he also revitalized the cassandre logo

i dont know much about vaccarello, but hedi absolutely had the HC stuff ready to go, he did a campaign to publicise it, and designed dresses for a few people, the YSL showrooms used to be (and i believe they still are) at the grand palais in Paris, hedi has had a portion of the building for years where he prepares his shows and hosts the showroom

anything vaccarello says about something not being finished is just a front for him not being ready to tackle it, YSL literally has hundreds of buildings all over the world, the only thing he needs to do is design the dresses, the saint laurent HQ isn't in one building, they have places dotted all over paris, 24 rue de l'universite was rebuilt for hedi's couture, which is where they have archives and hosted a show, and shot a campaign

i've been to 24 rue de l'universite, pretty sure that's where the hc was traditionally done, i dont think hedi would do it somewhere untrue to ysl, i've seen the couture dresses he made for the campaign and they were pretty breathtaking, i know the couture is separate to the rtw, im just expecting vaccarello to host it at the grand palais as well, chanel does their couture there already

i've got 3 SEF shoes, they normally take about a month to come, the guy who does it is called Lian he's pretty good at emailing, the shoes fit nice, look good, its a good option if like me you are heavy footed and break shoes a lot, i have a cigar suede jodhpur which is probably my favourite, i can't buy YSL shoes because im notorious for breaking shoes, but these ones have held up pretty well, you gotta look after them though

I've had Jodhpurs, wyatts and devon boots. They're good, the silhouette is unique but that's really their only selling point. I think I'm just bored of seeing the same old 'flannel, crash denim and wyatts' combo and it put me off it all.

I think that is part of why SLP seemed so focused, maybe why he didn't stay nearly as long also. This probably a more ideal way of being a fashion house leader, I know Rick and others have expressed the pressure to put out year after year. Definitely the case of capitalism forcing the artist. If bands had to put out a record every year, the quality would surely suffer.
