If you want recs, provide as many criteria as possible: including sex, price range, seasons/weather, occasions, other frags/notes/accords you like/dislike, special conditions i.e. can easily be found in mall department stores, other ephemera i.e. personal style/aura you want to project, etc...

Anyone have a fragrance that they absolutely love and is on their to-buy list but for some reason always gets passed over? For me its Prada Amber Pour Homme
>>
>>12278223
My gf when I was like 14 got me a bottle of this as a gift. For some reason the colour of the juice itself is amber though, no idea why. Was the original formulation amber? It still smells good so I don't think it 'went off'
>>
is it a bad decision to buy a recommended perfume off the internet without smelling it personally first? i am clueless for interpreting a scent from a list of adjectives. i just want to buy a simple/nice perfume as an entry-level starter kit (i was thinking 24 gold oud edition)
>>
>>12278267
I will tell you, the 24 Gold line is very strong. I have the original 24 Gold and 2 sprays on my neck was enough to make my Dad complain that he could smell me "a block away" when I went to dinner with him a while back. It's not a scent I would blind buy, personally.

That said, depending on how your financials are, it's not the end of the world if you buy a reasonably inexpensive bottle and don't like it. I would start with something a little safer, though. Something more fresh and inoffensive. 24 Gold Oud is probably not something you'll be able to wear everyday or in a work environment.

It's not uncommon for juice colors to change over time, that said there is a female version that has a more amber-y juice color

I have little to no sense of smell, so I just bought a handful of samples off MyPerfumeSamples, and asked some friends to rank / comment on each one.
Between the feedback I decided which ones to end up actually buying.
Went off the online reviews to determine when and where it'd be an appropriate situation to wear each one.

Yeah my juice is that colour, but it's definitely amber pour homme, says it on the metal and the style is the same as the male one

>>12278655

It's very much entry tier but a crowd pleaser. Extremely macho in that late 80's kind of way with no subtlety at all. It's good for clubbing if you're into that sort of thing but I don't find it authentic, it just screams for attention.
>>
Bleu de Chanel parfum is the best. I just keep buying massive bottles of it. Never smelled a fragrance so understated, yet refined. Smells like you're on the fucking red carpet.
>>
>>12278655
A classic, but too classic. Has many imitators that do it better. Nothing unique about it anymore, and it kinda went out like 20 years ago. Pretty much only greasy Persians wear it now.

>>
>>12279449
Aldehyde 44 is Dallas.

Because of >>12251852, I visited my local fancy Nordstrom (not to be confused with your ordinary, garden variety Nordstrom) to sample their higher end smellies.

The sales rep was totally unaware that Pour Monsieur existed, and the store only had an old Cologne concentrée tester. Sales girl had to leave the department for ten minutes to go find a bottle for me, and in the end they only had the 2016 formulation in EdP concentration. I bought it more or less blind.

Pour Monsieur EdP 2016 is pretty great honestly. The top notes are classic and remind me of Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta, but the heart and base are creamier, mossy and almost powdery. I have been getting 7-8 hours with decent projection.

After paying for my new Chanel, I got to sniff a few Frederic Malle bottles and sprayed mouilleuttes of Musc Ravageur and Portrait of a Lady. I also sniffed the entire Le Labo line for the first time. The Le Labo dude was nice and gave me samples of Santal 33, Thé Noir 29, and Vetiver 46. I've only worn the Santal thus far, but it's really impressive. The longevity and sillage are Bond / Creed level or better. I can see myself collecting most of the line.
>>
Is one spray of Joop Go enough? Just on my wrist then rubbed together? I want to get my money's worth here, from a 100ml bottle.
>>
>>12279868
At least one spray on each side of the neck, but you'll still have to reapply after 4-5 hours because of it's mediocre longevity. You'll definitely get more than your money's worth because it will last you at least 8 months of everyday usage with a 100 ml bottle, especially when it's a cheapie like Go.

Wearing 4 sprays of 24 Gold Oud at work today and owning it. Neck, chest, and pits. It's as strong now as it was five hours ago. Sweet, woody, spicy, and more sweet.

That said, it's not a scent for every day and all seasons. It would be too cloying for the summer heat. It is an excellent fall-winter and evening scent though. You could make it part of a two-bottle rotation along with a versatile warm weather scent.

If I had to choose a single frag for year round everyday use it would be Mancera Gold Intensive Aoud. It frequently goes on sale for under $100 and two sprays typically last for 24 hours.

The one in the clear bottle is the original and has been around for over 20 years. The one in the black bottle is called Acqua di gio profumo released in 2015, it has a more mature/upscale vibe due to the added incense and patchouli which also make it perform better (longevity, projection), but still has that original acqua di gio DNA in. Really good frag for summer evenings and general events in the summer/spring time.

>>12283411
So you're more of a signature scent kind of guy, so you need something really versatile that can be worn to work or school and also do nicely at the bar in the evening with the ladies and can be worn year round. This tends to be fragrances on the fresh side.
IMO you should check out bleu de chanel, D&G the one EDP (bit of freshness but has a beautiful sweetness to it), and even dior sauvage (but sauvage is getting suuuuper popular so I'd steer clear personally). Speaking of custom blends... are there any sites that make custom frags? I can't really make my own because A. I doubt I'll be able to make something that doesn't smell like ass, and B. Am I just retarded or does Aqua Fahrenheit not smell like a spring/summer frag at all?
To me it smells like a delicious, sweet cinnamon, and cinnamon is a scent I associate heavily with Fall and Winter.
I feel like everyone calls it a spring/summer frag because it has aqua in the title.
Does anyone else get that cinnamon vibe or is it just me?

sauvage is toted as good for just about all seasons, and it isnt too citrucy so I kinda lean on getting atleast that. Any other recs? Can be more or less night or daytime frags, no vanilla, I dont really like it.

I exclusively wore this only for a good portion of autumn and the entire winter, it quickly became my favourite designer frag, so I'm heavily biased towards recommending it.

There's something about it that makes me feel like it's sticking it to it's contemporaries and drawing inspiration from the old-school instead, while taking a minimalist approach to keep it modern.

However, it's one of those try before you buy scents, lots of people don't find themselves in it, so don't blind buy it unless you absolutely love vetiver.

> Sadly it's a bit too expensive as a first niche perfume for me, I'd be willing to drop 100€ maximum
> Things that I liked before but not totally : Maison Francis Kurkdjian - Amyris Homme, and Costume National - Intense Scent.

Hope you'll be able to help me, have a great day

Opinions on CDG Black Pepper & Wonderwood?
>>

wonderwood is soulless forest, not cold and evil but just soulless imo, overly modern forest frag

I wasn't particularly impressed with the sample of black pepper I got. It didn't smell bad but I think it's geared for someone who's a much bigger fan of pepper than I am. I love wonderwood though. Like the anon above said, dont get it if you want to smell like you just walked out of a forest, but if you want to smell like an antique china cabinet it's great.

Okay i never brought colonge and im interested in starting to wear some.
Sex:Male
Age:18 bout to go to college so i dont want something that makes me smell too much like an old man.
Price range:around 100 and less can spring for alot higher but this is my first buy so im alittle apprehensive.
Occasions:looking for a everyday scent right now so i dont want anything that smells like im "going somewhere".
Season/weather:looking for something that wouldn’t be too werid to wear year round but wouldn't mind buying a s/s bottle and a f/w bottle if necessary.
Personal style:wear a mixture of thrift, designer, and vintage.
Kind of a loner with a close knit circle of friends. So something subtle might be nice.
As for hobbies:im very adventurous and like to try new things no matter what is.play alot of video games ,watch anime, like to write,do photography and flim. Something "artsy" might be cool
Neef to be able to find it in a store so i can smell it first, i live in nyc so if you know any stores here that would be nice.

Ask if you need any more info, cuz i feel half of this is useless

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, I've been looking up some fragrances on basenotes etc for everyday wear. Wanted to check them out at stores or get some samples when I get the chance.
anyways here are a few that stand out to me, most of them should be "fresh" and "inoffensive" for everyday wear:

Dior homme
Ysl l'homme
versace pour homme
gucci pour homme 2
ADG pour homme
l'eau d'Issey pour homme
dior sauvage

Only ones I tried yet are the Issey miyake and dior sauvage. Both pretty great, I prefer the Issey, it's a lot more subtle.

Occasions : Everyday

I live in a pretty trendy part of the country so finding any perfume ( except if its very niche, which wouldn't bother me by the way ) won't be to hard. And I'd like something that's not really common.... I hope it's better like this. Cheers

you're better of buying 2 30$ frags because there while there might be fragrances that might work sometimes all year round, there is no fragrance that works in a formal winter situation and in a casual summer situation.

also never fucking buy retail, always buy from ebay or whataver amerifags use

but these are some very cheap but also good fragrances:

warm weather:
versace pour homme
mugler cologne
nautica voyage
insurection 2 pure
perri ellis 360 red

cold weather:
midnight in paris
rochas man
mont blanc individuel
eau de baux
burberry london
avant garde lavin
otherwise you can buy only bleu de chanel which is the mfa of fragrances. which is an expensive dumb reach for people who don't care about fragrances

With so little to compare it to, it's hard to say, but it seems to perform great.
I asked some girls I'm close with to rank the samples I bought (pic related), and nearly everyone ranked Code Profumo as #1 out of the group, sometimes by a wide margin.
Got comments describing it as "masculine," "comforting," "nice daily wear."

Opening always reminds me of root beer the first few minutes, but I love whenever I catch a whiff of it throughout the day. Excited to go to my first big event with it.

Here's me reporting on this frag since people asked. I got it this morning.

Honestly I am a bit blown away at how nice it is for 13 euros. Makes me think of what kind of ripof most niche frag probably are. It's not synthetic like most cheap frags, which was my biggest fear. I wore it for like 5 hours now and I still smell it but I can tell it is definitely weaker than almost all fragrances in this genre. The coconut makes it unique and I think people could wear this with ease in spring and summer nights since someone was asking. The biggest problem I have with it is that the coconut really makes it way more feminine than I would like. For the price, It was a steal, but I'll probably end up giving it to a woman.

Here's my personal ranking of "sweet tobacco" frags from worst to best:

Back to Black: Repugnant. This might be the harshest frag I ever smelled. I had to scrub this shit off after half an hour

Tom Ford TV: I don't need to scrub it but still super harsh to my nose. I don't get how people like this stuf

Chergui: Not as bad, but still somewhat harsh

Tabac Rouge: From here they stop being harsh. Tabac rouge is the only one that is too sweet. cloyingly

Eau de Baux: This one technically doesn't have tobacco but whatever. It's nice but there is nothing interesting to me.

Zara Tobacco: Also very nice, but feminine

Pure Havane: Absolutely great frag, it does have the a men DNA thou

Xerjoff Naxos: niche version of pure havane, an al around improvement

Herod: Outstanding. Best tobacco frag atm hands down. It's what I wear when I want to be mysterious

Haven't smelt 18.21 manmade

How is The One EdP's longevity? I've heard great things about the scent but the longevity makes me wary to buy it.
>>

Damn that's interesting. Thanks for the update man
>>
Blind ordered Armaf Club de Nuit Intense. Will do a quick review once the poo in loos deliver it.
>>
I have Joop Go for spring/autumn but I'd like a summer and winter scent.
For summer I'm going to go with ck one 2016. For winter I want something leathery but sweet, my budget is around £20-30 a bottle.
>>
>>12293356
It's longevity is OK but the projection isn't good

Recently got decants of CH men and CH men prive & I would recommend both of them

CH Men scent is really damn good. Sweet, and leathery. I have no idea if the sample I got was the old or new formulation, but whatever it is it lasts longer than what people say online. Doesn't seem to project however. I still want it for close encounters. If I buy it i will look for the old formulation with the red

CH men Prive: i Get a lot of boozyness at the beginning but the dry down leads to a nice sweet scent. Lasted me throuhout the day, and I would need to test projection more. I do prefer a smaller scent bubble anyways. People often refer to this as a date frag, but i can see myself wearing it any occasion in fall/winter

any good non-citrus dominated summer frags?
currently using creed MI, memeventus, and ysl l'homme. looking to expand though.

Is there a scent that evokes this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNjzjlqtaXs

I love rain, and when it first comes with spring and has that smell of new life is amazing. I'd also be interested if there was something similar but for those cold autumn rains.

got a decant of GIT, thanks though.

God la nuit is fucking gorgeous but the performance is atrocious. What are good alternatives? Got DnG the one but I'm not huge on it.

Where? At Zara? Don't know how available it is in the US

On advice from many in this thread I copped a bottle of armani code profumo.

Very happy with it, the sales clerk also threw in a sampler of polo red extreme

Thanks for the tips /fa/

Opinions on this?

I like the scent, very warm but a bit too grandma-y

any opinion of bvlgari blv?
>>
>>12295442
I enjoy it personally it has a soapy accord merging with a unique array of notes that doesn't change much over the life of the fragrance, i find it has decent longevity 6-8 hours and doesn't project much past 1 foot after an hour or so which is something I quite often appreciate.
This was one of my first frags though and I've found its becoming less interesting as I've smelt more and more fragrances. I feel as though its easy to wear as it isn't offensive the uniqueness factor never blew me away and I wear this for myself. If you are looking for a compliment getter this isn't it , I enjoy the versatility but I wouldn't go for it unless you have a decent collection with variety or really enjoy this fragrance personally and need something to cater to different occasions without a need for a self satisfying compliment factor.
>>
Anyone like Etat Libre D'Orange stuff? I have a friend who works with them and she offered me a bottle of any one of their EDPs.

I've smelled their Jasmin et Cigaret and their Je Suis un homme before, and loved both of them
>>
>>12295370

am I only one who hates TF frags. They are overly loud for the sake of being loud and obnoxious. They seem like the niche level of paco rabane frags

Also, every sandnigger in uk wears tuscan leather. I smelled tuscan leather at the gym and at university
>>
>>12295923
i think it definitely depends on what TF frag you pick. things like tobacco vanille and tuscan leather have insane projection and power, but in my experience, grey vetiver is an awesome, subtle scent. not everything tom ford does is heavy and loud.
>>
>>12295499
anyone?
>>
Best fragrance for a DmC Dante cosplay? I was thinking of getting Hilfiger Loud or 212 NYC. Also probably best to carry an atomizer with me for a long day at a con?
>>
>>12288254
anyone else can comment on this? Reviews say longlivety and projection is shitty, correct or no? Went to get some samples today, but got some others over this. It did remind me of some soda drink like >>12288543 said.
>>
>>12296351
Grey Vetiver literally smells like body wash tho
>>
Man who ordered 20 dark/gothic/cold fragrances a little while back, I just received my package, will give updates

Tom Ford - Plum Japonais: Very Purple Sweet Dark Candy, kinda like wine cough syrup. It smells familiar. Halloween party when you're 7 years old?

CdG - Zagorsk: Smells like garbage honestly, it only gets worse. vomit inducing concept frag
>>
>>12297121
A couple minutes later:

Plum japonais still smell sweet. that's kinda how I would imagine Willy wonka's flower candy section to smell like. i still dont feel like i exactly pinpointed it though

Zagorsk: A place where they work with grey-yellow marble, ocean nearby. or the smell of a marble bath.
>>
>>12297169
>>12297121
well maybe i should give them a couple more minutes before judging. theyre both starting to smell nicer
>>
>>12296699
This, I have a shaving cream that smells identical to it lmao.
>>
>>12297121
>CdG - Zagorsk: Smells like garbage

>>
>>12297224
it actually doesnt smell bad but it did after immediatly applying to skin

I quickly smelled each sample without applying to my skin and so far the ones that caught my attention the most were De Profundis Serge Lutens and CdG Kyoto. I thought my favorite would be Voleur de Rose but not really. We'll see when I actually wear them though.

But I guess it goes to say you cant run away from your brain. When I thought I would prefer a dark fragrance it seems I dont. Mysterious and contemplative is a better word to use than dark. I dont actually know what would be the right word, but now it's obvious that I dont want to dress/smell dark just for the sake of it.

Can you guys please recommend me a good unscented deodorant?

I haven't been able to find something that works as both deodorant AND antiperspirant AND doesn't stain clothes

Please
>>
>>12297378
I use unscented speed stick power but it stains the clothes
>>

Curious about this, too. Was looking between the Speed Stick or the Arm & Hammer unscented deodorants.

Thank you for the testing notes and microblog.
>>
Really, really impressed with Invasion Barbare so far. Smell is inoffensive but unique and it has been projecting for over 9 hours even though it's pretty much a year-round scent.
>>
I'm looking for something with white wine notes, muted tapioca starch, and a faint lisp. Herbaceous woody notes are okay but NOT polished ones and nothing darker than a weathered red maple bark. The image I want to evoke is the moment when one of the eggs in a nest fails to hatch crossed with soccer mom batchelorette party chic. If I wear it in a crowded elevator, i want adults to enjoy it but children to be visibly perturbed.

Price is not an issue, obviously. Make your suggestions.
>>
>>12297977
Aventus.
>>
I think you misunderstand me; I do not intend to smell like a man exactly. I good place to start would be to envision be as a moderately successful drag queen, but I am the person who manages and does the merchandising for that person.
>>

>If I wear it in a crowded elevator, i want adults to enjoy it but children to be visibly perturbed.

What kind of rotten freak wants to perturb children?

Then see this post

exactly. if you happen to know any frags that approximate a hairy Parisian scrotum thats been roughly dragged through a diced bosque pear macerating in gin, I would overnight it to myself.

>>
>>12297659
I finally figured out what Plum Japonais smells like and it smells like my grandpas car interior that has one of those tree air freshners, something i smelled like 15 years ago.

and yeah that's about the best we can do since this general's pretty slow
>>
Dali EDP: smells like a hot diaper and/or a heavy dark emerald in a fucking hot dark green hell. pretty unpleasant

CdG Black: Smells like Pine and smoke. Reminds of when we were making amerindian tipis, laying down the pine trees and installing the wood furnace inside. smelled like almost this except smokier and not as strong.
>>
>>12298603
the pine is very pronounced in cdg black. dont know what they were thinking
>>
I found a good track for Dali EDP

Indeed. ofc, having realized this, I have purchased myself some Aventus.

CdG Black is nothing but strong pine at this point, either way i threw them in the batch of samples i dont like
