If you spend five to ten thousand dollars on a watch and you aren't making at the very least 6 figures you need to rethink your spending habits. Go for Hugo Boss or something that is nice but not 4 figures.

But if you know shit-all about watches, don't buy a fucking rolex for your first 'proper' watch. Lurk moar and look at shit like seiko 5 SX007/SX009, Orient Ray I, Ray II, Mako, etc etc. Fuck man, even like Omega Speedy's are cheaper than that watch. Look around and if you're going to drop that much money on a watch (goes for close to 10K where I am, approx) then at least know *a little* about what you're buying. Look around and research.

Buying a rolex for your first watch just because is like someone coming to you with no fashion advice and asking if they should just stock up on Rick Owens. Just no.

Rolexes aren't that expensive if you buy them second hand, because they keep their value pretty well (wouldn't go for a two tone though).
