If the person likes it, and is an adult who understands it's permanent, why do you have such a negative opinion? I used to think like that.

Then when I decided to become a tattoo apprentice I started watching and listening to tattoo artist interviews, I found out that tattoos that were got just for fashion or aesthetic also can sometimes have meaning to them, like the memory of getting it, or what you were doing in life or what friends you had or who you were seeing when you got that specific tattoo.

and while yes it's good to have a tattoo that you've thought long and hard about getting and has significant meaning to you, that also doesn't mean you can't get a tattoo just for the sake of getting a tattoo, like ppl say life's short..
And even those tattoos you got just because end up having a certain memory associated with them through time
