I read the Wiki, now I'm trying to decide on a simple, versatile starter sneaker
> Adidas (Samba, Gazelle, Stan)
> Reebok (Classic; anything else?)
Am I missing anything? I appreciate NB's ethics, but they look soccermom-core
pls /fa/ i need u :(((

reebok instapump fury if you wanna be a little more adventurous but still have something that works with everything, at least in a basic colorway (ie full black or full white)

Ya, samba is pretty basic and versatile

are you the same/only person posting this in /fa?
I just bought a pair but suspect no one else here knows wtf SLP is
>>12205652
not that guy, but i think theyre pretty cool. really nice price point, cool branding, theyre basically converse without all the shitty things about converse. saw a few pairs around san francisco last time i was there

what's shitty about converse? sloppy/memeish? As for price point, isn't SLP ~2x the price of converse?
got these recently, really like them.

my biggest problem is all the contrast stitching desu, there just waaayyyy too busy. build quality can be pretty garbage and the silhouette isnt great, at least on the low tops. imo a big reason the cdg cons were so popular is because they made all the unnecessary shit one color and it made them way more attractive
also yeah, they're around 200 usd retail, but if you should never be paying under 100 for a new pair of shoes unless theyre on a massive sale, anything that retails under 100 will pretty invariably be shit quality. diminishing returns with shoes doesn't really kick in until around 250 imo

I like the look of Clubs, I'm just unsure since I don't really see them getting discussed. Like, there's another thread going right now for Adidas, and it turns out Superstars are basic :((((

interesting view on pricing and yes, looking closer at detailing, I see your point about the stitching.. looks like a solid design.
I get that people dig the cdg play heart/eyes or other logos, I'm just not a fan of obvious branding/huge words plastered all over clothing, feels pretentious. It's like cdg had the right idea by cleaning it up, then shit all over it with their logo.
I'm still loyal to certain brands, but that's my business. If I already paid the man, why work for them as a walking billboard?
/end rant
er.. i meant in comparing the two, SLP looks like a solid design

yeeaaahhhh, the oreo styles are a bit much lol, and im not too big on the large hearts either desu
classic small heart pair are still great tho, details like the stitching being the same color as the canvas or removing all the extra pieces of rubber on the sole, and black stripe down the back gives them a touch of flair without coming off as obnoxious. also the construction (especially where the heel pulls in at the ankle) is wayyy more rigid than a standard pair

yep they def improved the shape and by going minimalist. And the subtle branding is better than that converse/dairy cow collab of a mess.
maybe I'm too introverted.. I like to dress well, just not call attention to it.
