>can't stop touching my face
help
>>
>>12197873
Not sure if there is help with that.
I don't touch my face and I mew whenever I remember about it.
I'm like a month into taking my shit together and right now I remember about both of those things 70% of the time.

Take it easy, no need to rush.
>>
>>12197873
This might sound really stupid, but do you wear makeup? I had a lot of trouble with touching my face, but after I started wearing light makeup (bb cream, blush, maybe some powder) it made me more conscious about it because I didn't want to ruin it. I ended up being better about cleaning my skin too, because going to bed with makeup still on is disgusting

don't know about the product you posted but i switched my routine entirely to asian products such as snail serums and shit like that and my skin ist like 500% better. i really don't know why this shit isn't more popular. I literally fixed my skin entirely only by changing to asian products since i found western shit to be way too bloated with meme ingredients that do more harm than good.

well a bit of back story just so you know that it might not help you specifically: my main issue was that my skin was quite dehydrated and therefore oily and i reacted really badly to cerave and the likes (basically any heavy products containing fatty alcohols) since they just broke me out and made me more oily. then i found a gel moisturizer which my skin really liked and i realized that this kind of light/gentle product was way better for my skin. right now i use a really light gel cleanser and hyaluronic acid lotion followed by snail essence and another gel like moisturizer. in the evening i basically do the same thing except i switch the lotion for a light bha. i can't name the products rn because i simply don't remember the names on the spot. basically i'm using very light, low ph, moisturizing products and nothing strong that might irritate me. haven't found a sunscreen that works for me yet though. as for where i get them i just order from amazon here in yurop a lot of products are available for quite affordable prices idk bout the US though. if you still care i could check later exactly what the products are. just beware that i don't really have acne i just treated my skin poorly and am now in the process of rebuilding it basically and these asian products helped me a lot.

is witch hazel bad for your skin?
>>
Didnt get to see if someone replied to my post a couple of threads ago so I'll just ask again.

My doctor prescribed me Retin-A / Benzoyl peroxide 5% for my acne and I have been using it for about 5 months now. I use noxzema deep pore cleanser as a face wash as well. So far I have not seen any good results and I am contemplating trying something else. Should I use a different cleanser or just go to a dermatologist?

bout to cop pic related, wanted to give skincare a try so i'm diving in headfirst. my main concern is really getting rid of acne scars since my face has got the swiss cheese situation going on but i don't mind having a routine, it seems fun.

what do you guys think of these products? friend suggested them to me since we both have normal-oily skin. as for cleanser i'm using cetaphil since it's what i've always had at home but i'm looking for moisturizer and sunscreen suggestions.

actually, it would be more worth it if they just removed the fragrances period.

I bought their Jermyn aftershave once, it was like $22. It is a nice aftershave, but doesn't influence the shaving result. Not worth the price imo
I usually use a cheap $5 aftershave balm with (little or no alcohol because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older) and don't notice a difference in skin color/quality/impurities.

use the saved money to buy paulas choice aha/bha exfoliator for literally DRASTIC changes

I had perfectly fine skin for most of my early teenage years, but about a year ago I got super red, itchy, inflamed pimples on my right side cheek and chin. Me, being the fuck head that I am, decided it was a good idea to scratch and pick at them. Although my new acne in that area isn't as terrible as it once was, I have this nasty scarring all around and have no clue how to fix it. I went to a dermatologist and he gave me a benzoyl peroxide night cream and I've been using for several months now with no fix it remedy.

Any ideas that might help? I don't even care to fix the scarring, I just want the red marks gone

Some tips for preventing spots/acne: (that worked for me)

change/wash pillow case regularly
keep your face clean (wash two times a day with lukewarm water)
avoid touching your face and popping spots
drink green tea 3-5 times a week or more
if condition worsens, go to the doctors or dermatologist
and finally, patience.. acne won't disappear overnight

Pore powder, and oil cleansing sheets. Cerave and Cetaphil both have nice moisturizers - generally speaking what you're looking for is the most clinical, non-fragranced, hypoallergenic stuff you can find - the less things in there to offend your skin, the better.

Hi. On the general sticky it recommends moisturizers and cleansers. I am an expat in the Netherlands, and everything is expensive for US-Europe delivery. I have to pay around 50% of the value of the item for delivery.

These are the sticky recs fyi
Moisturizers:
CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion
Cetaphil Daily Advance Lotion
Eucerin Skin Calming Daily Moisturizing Creme
Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream**
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream**
Vaseline Petroleum Jelly**

Cleansers:
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser
Aquanil Cleanser

TLDR does anyone know any cheap moisturizers and cleansers in Europe, with cheap delivery or available from pharmacies/shops here?

How do I get a close shave when shaving with the grain? My facial hair is extremely stubborn so when I shave against the grain my skin gets irritated or even cut if I'm unlucky. When I shave with the grain the shave isn't close enough and i get left with a really short stubble. I'm using a DE razor with Feather blades, a cheap boar brush and a Proraso eucalyptus shaving soap (pic related).

silicone will fade scars basically completely. That's all you'll need. I have a foreheard scar myself, lot worse than yours. your's isn't disfiguring and looks almost completely flat. But it is pretty pink still so i assume it's somewhat fresh? Regardless, silicone gels/sheets would help alot

I think you're forehead scar is /fa/ as fuck, but that one on you're nose needs to silicone. I'm assuming you're 4 scars are 1 forehead, 2 nose, 3 chin and 4 cheekbone?? There not bad at all, and trust me they don't look as bad as you think.

I'd be more concerned with whatever is below your nose. Is that a mole or cyst of some kind?

Ask away i know almost everything there is you can do about scars, and what actually works. Location and age of the scar are very important with how you would go about treating them
>>
>>12203649
Time will heal those, they aren't pitted, only hyperpigmented, thus they will fade eventually. Sunscreen whenever you go out will help alot. Even if it's cloudy, sunscreen 24/7.

>>12204149
see a derm, probably accutane.

>>12204161
stupid to do on your own, worth it if you can afford for a specialist to do them. More beneficial for acne scarring then anything else i think

this is solid advice, going to try both these out. My bacne isn't the worst, but defiantely what you'd call bad.

For you're scaring, i would look into dermarolling. see a derm about it (obviously one who perfroms it, dont waste your time just for an opinion to go elsewhere after). They'll likely get better with time. >>12208997
What his derm likely gave him is something with benzoyl peroxide and something else like retional or adapalene, which would help with the scarring. If not then yeah derm is an idioit.

i would never do that shit myself, much better idea to get a specialist to do it.

make sure they are actual blackheads, and not sebaceous filaments. removing sebaceous filaments will only make them worse

>>12210015
Prevention >>>> Reversal. Botox would be you're best option. Retionals do help though, but it's usually not the greatest at reduction. It would still be worth it to use.

Olaz works. My exgirlfriend had a big interest in dermatology and wanted to be a dermatologist. leave cetaphil for pm routine, for am you must use sunscreen so yeah, you can try something from the sticky. Cetaphil cleanser is also nice, for exfoliants I normally use Paula's Choice (there are probably cheaper alternatives), but if you have acne just use BP.

>>
>>12226176
Stop applying anything but ordinary moisturizers, and you will be okay. Don't scrub or touch the area too much, as it will harm and irritate the skin.

Many exfoliants (both chemical and physical ones) can interfere with the healing process of superficial wounds, and the same thing goes for witch hazel (usually contains some amount of alcohol). "Soothing balms" can often contain too much menthol or alcohol to be good for sensitive (damaged) skin.

What do you use for shaving?

Hey friends, been lurking here for a while and decided to actually apply it to real life by starting a basic skin-care routine. Pic related, I guess I have what would be considered dry skin. Already read the sticky btw.

My priority #1 is ridding myself of the minor acne I struggle with. I recently started cleansing my face a few times a week, with seems to have helped somewhat with the zits, even though I still get some infrequently, and I get some minor blemishes.

I guess the next step would be to get a toner and a moisturizers. What should I look for, considering I have dry skin, and skin that is sensitive in general? (I have some allergies and my hands get dryed out really easily.)

Thanks!

Reminder that to get the most out of your lotions use it on wet skin so that your skin absorbs the water alongside the lotion, otherwise the lotion will just sit on top of your skin.

You're probably fine just using CeraVe like everyone else here. If you're getting breakouts because of your hair + glasses, you might want to try cleaning both more often. It might not seem too harmful now, but you won't want to have scars when you're older.

>>12233992
I've tried Eucerin as well and it's not as effective as Amlactin but is really similar. If you can't get Eucerin where you live, look for lotions with ammonium lactate as an ingredient.

as for the skin-picking, consider n-acetylcysteine supplementation [google "n-acetylcysteine skin-picking" for reference].

use sunscreen to keep the pigmentation from worsening. see >>12222220 for help on PIE/PIH.

The Amlactin is available in Europe through Amazon.[de/co.uk]. don't know about other parts of the world though.

Just ordered this stuff to add to my routine. for the past month or two I have been doing a morning and night routine of just Cera Ve hydrating cleanser in the shower and blue label hydrating lotion post shower/shave. This plus lifestyle changes/drinking water/etc has effectively stopped all new acne and I am now in the process of clearing up (assuming I don't break out again).

Does anyone have experience with the snail cream stuff? Should I put it on after moisturizer post shower? I'm really going for redness and scar depth reduction.

'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

It's all about the angle, and you shouldn't be applying any pressure. In terms of irritation, either shave after a shower or put a warm towel on the face and ex-foliate well. A bit of stubble is normal.

i never had problems with my skin and it's neither dry or oily. but i want to keep it that great, so what to use?
I am using some Khiel's Products for shaving, but 100bucks for cleaning my face and use a daily creme is a bit too much imho.

any recommendations for a good midrange standard productline?

I keep having cystic outbreaks at the zones in the pic. One outbreak literally started before the skin could fully heal from the previous one. What the fuck should I do?
>>
>>12237913

deal with it

I'm 26 and still get acne now and then. I had acne for most of my teenage years, it wasn't terrible, but it was persistent. (Ro)Accutane is the ONLY

THE

ONLY

thing that has ever worked. I recommend you to that. That goes to everyone in this thread. Get it prescribed by your doctor. If he/she says your acne isn't bad enough, pretend you're suicidal because of it.

As for the cysts. I have no fucking idea. I had a fucking gigantic one right on my cheek one time. It stayed there for months. I decided to go to the doctor, and told him I wanted it surgically removed. Went to the hospital and had it done. It still isn't completely gone. You can still see the remnants of it under my skin.

AM/PM:
>Burt's Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser
>Stridex
>Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

I keep a trimmed beard about 1/2 - 1 cm long, and my acne is much worse in the beard area than anywhere else. My skin also ends up oily in the afternoon despite the Stridex. What do?

Look up boxar scarring. Get a bha.
>>
>>12217262
Bullshit.
Different types of toners can be used for different things. For example, i use a tone with niacimanide on top of my bha exfoliants in order to even out my skintone.
Some toners work well on top of a moisturizer, some toners can help assist the exfoliant, some help with acnes. But an undefined toner can be just cosmetic.

Tinea Versicolor
(Yeast infection from teenage years) I had this
get versel from a dermatologist... it's an orange paste and then shampoo for like 1-2 months and it will be gone for a while... it may return, but being a teenager/early 20s is a strange time for your body.
>>
anyone here use glossier stuff, its a little on the pricier side i dont know if its worth the investment

It's ok if you really have no clue and want something pretty that feels like a treat but it's not really as good as understanding your skin and what it needs. Your skin might be glowier but it won't necessarily be clear.

just report it and ignore it.
occasional cancer is unavoidable here.

anyways: great to hear that you don't have any new acne. check the posts in the thread for PIE treatment. the most cost-effective over-the-counter treatment right now for any kind of acne scars is dermarolling/microneedling.

>>12238069
to what end?
>>
>>12238191
beards are problematic for people with acne. it's easier for bad bacteria, oils, and skin residues to get stuck since it's hard to access it when cleaning the skin. everything applied topically also has a hard time getting to where it's supposed to go.

stridex won't help with oily skin.
cetaphil can make your skin oilier than some other creams. maybe you should dilute it.

try a more aggressive cleanser in the beard area + benzoyl peroxide

If you have a legit acne problem, save yourself the time and trouble and just go see a fuckin dermatologist. They're gonna help you a lot more then you would by experimenting with a bunch of random shit when you should really just be applying certain topical creams and maybe taking a certain pill.

i don't think so, it really works

recently i got fed up with my cheeks being almost always dry and red, i didn't want to go to a doc with it, so i read about it and i diagnosed myself with "seborrheic dermatitis" (not dandruff, but the type on the face), i'm using a chemical exfoliator for only a week now (twice per day) and the result is already showing, my face is nowhere near as red as it was before, i think the redness will fully disappear

i use Paula's Choice Clear Regular Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution With 2% Salicylic Acid, it appears i found the right one for my skin on the first try

i'm not sure, if i should use a moisturizer along with it or no though, this exfoliator doesn't dry the skin, so apparently there's no need

buy those freezing solutions you can get OTC

if that doesn't work get it cauterized by a derma
