If the edges aren't sewed over the velcro, yes. Easy as ripping out some threads and then pulling the velcro strip off. If the edges are sewed over, you can get away with clipping off the hooks, then it just becomes a bit more of a difficult material to push through.

righto, should be simple enough, the NY is embroidered straight onto the cap but the patch you want is sewn on. So see where that white stitching is outlining the patch? You need to get a seam ripper like pic related, hook it underneath each stitch and cut the thread, once you've done them all it should come off.

I think the problem is the overall look , not just the patch. If its one a black jacket and if you're decent looking it would be good. The problem with most of the people who buy and wear that patch usually slap it on some random jacket. They are also usually ugly too
