what do you mean?

generally you wouldn't hem a t-shirt neck-line, you'd attach a collar to the raw edge instead.

hemming sleeves: fold the raw edge in twice, press the crease with an iron, pin in place. remove the base platform from your sewing machine so that you can sew in the round, and sew the hem in place. you'll notice that many t-shirts will have either a serge/overlock or two rows of straight stitches in order to secure the hem.

tapering jeans is extremely easy especially if the jeans fit how you want in the thigh area. with a sewing machine and a straight edge you can taper a pair of pants in like 10 mins even as a beginner.

it depends how the stitch is oriented and being used, doesn't it?

if you're using an overlock to join two pieces of fabric at their edges, on the right side you will not see the stitch, as you say, just the seam where the fabrics come together.

if, however, you use an overlock to secure a flat hem, like a fabric folded over onto itself, don't you end up with the two rows of what appear to be straight stitches on the right side?

grab a t-shirt that has hemmed sleeves. look at how the hem is secured, you'll see what looks like two rows of straight stitches on the right side. turn it over, and you'll see that it's an overlock.

If I dyed a jacket and want to take a strip of velcro off of it with a seam ripper, will the space underneath the velcro have the same color distribution as the rest of the jacket or is the velcro patch enough to keep that area free of dye?

If you're planning on painting it dark brown just paint few layers over it, it will cover the old layers. In any case you will have to paint at least two coats to achieve a good result.

If you want to make the same in a way that it looks good on silkscreen, you should re-make this on plastic sheets so that every colour will have it's own sheet (like that you can see all of them on top of each other). The scan will never work, sorry (you will not manage to separate the colours nor make the lines clean due to the denim). You'll have to make a separate screen out of every colour. Ask a friend who has an access to a silkscreening workshop for details, or alternatively small fablab-type of a place.

Got it printed at one hour tees in chicago, bunch of pretentious hipsters work there but the pricing isnt horrid, for one tee and to have it done in an hour was like 24 bucks, but the longer you're willing to wait the cheaper it is, i believe if you're willing to wait 5-7 business days its around 12 bucks i think

Patternmaking about 4 hours, production about a day.

man when i was in school, the patternaking class being 6 hours (including a 3 hour sewing lab) seemed ridiculous
i sucked at sewing at first so the 3 hour lab was perfect, but i was so quick with patternmaking, always just standing around waiting for the rest to catch up

now that im making my own patterns, making my own blocks, sewing up mockups and doing pattern corrections, i can spend a whole 2 days just working on one thing

Hey i want to start making stuff at home but like many other things in my life atm im lacking motivation, i think its a depressive thing. Is a t-shirt the simplest item i can make? To get into doing something i need to be able to have immediate or near immediate results. Seeing it take shape is fine.

I've never embroidered on a hoodie before but I'm sure it would be fine because the material is fairly thick. There is tear-away stabilizer that is often used for clothes that you can buy. The best thing about embroidery is that you can always remove it if it ends up not looking good
