depends, real riding jackets are usually cut from pretty heavy leather, fashion jackets can be very thin or thick.

I have wrecked twice in My Rev'It Ignition 2, probably not the most fa jacket around but its a great for protection. Dainese has a heritage collection of you like brown. Regular leather jackets tear like rice paper on the street.

Check out Belstaff, Spada, Dainese and Tucano. Pic related, Belstaff trialmaster. Not the toughest jacket but has removable shoulder and elbow armour.
