Would it be weird if I were to wear a polo under an Oxford shirt
>>12029848
Yes
>>12029848
not really. layer all of the above together in cold temps.
polo > ocbd > rugby shirt > shetland sweater > barbour coat > raincoat
>>12029867
Huh, you don't see this too often but it feels pretty good. Got any good layering inspo?
>>12029852
you haven't a clue, this is actually a very classic Ivy look.
>tfw want to dress prep/Ivy/trad in college but everyone thinks you're dressed up because college students dress like trash and you went to a prep school and now you dress like trash too
Can someone post some good college prep inspo
>>12030454
i say this on the behalf of 4chans many resident ivy leaguers: dont fucking do it
feel free to dress kinda nice- but dont overdo it, and dont do "prep" unless youre legit southern gentry.
Prep should be renamed Cruzcore. It's only 'cool' if you're a fratbro at some dumpy college.
>>12030494
even frat bros dont really dress like this. its wannabe kids and people from mass.
Nobody else posting inspo?

o/u are much more aesthetic, plus they're better for shooting trap and skeet
>>12031553
If the boy was truly as aristocratic as he wants to appear his shotgun barrels would be side by side, which is the preffered way in terms of aesthetics by the people he imitates. He certainly didn't inherit it.
They also prefer the classic breeds of hunting dogs which are seldom entirely black but mostly grey/brown, often in combination with white parts. Spaniel, Drahthaar, Pointers, Bloodhound etc. Also his rainboots seem to be of inferior quality. If you know what you're doing you invest in those and buy Le Chameau.
While none of these things individually give it away the combination really strongly hints to him not being old money.
Source: Went hunting with a lot of people you'd generally consider old money.
Is this preppy?
>>12030764
W2c tie, and what jacket is that?

Jacket looks like Barbour

What kind of jacket is this? W2c

Where to get good fitted rugby shirts that aren't ridiculously expensive in Europe?
How many ivy league kids actually dress prep?
I'll post a link in a few minutes; it's one of my favorite books ever

okay first fucking thing I've scanned in a year; the author is a blogger from the japanese trad scene and a well-known vintage clothing collector

>>12030454
just speaking for hvrd here, nobody except tossers dress like the polo catalogue at any college. But you'll find that any good college is usually home to people who put more thought into their mode of dress, just like how art students dress like the homeless or tech school guys wear rugby shirts and dad jeans. The more expensive tuition is, the more likely you are to see asian kids covered in supreme logos. lmao jus b yourself dude.
>>12029353
¡Jeb!
>>12035513
The fact that your tech guys wear rugby shirts probably says a lot about your school though. Ours wear size XL Facebook shirts and various stuff from their engineering events

>>12032395
Basic stores, they arent hard to find
>>12029848
It would look very 80's.
Going to a Gatsby themed party, everyone will probably be boring wearing black suits and waistcoats, bow ties, and fedoras.
I'm going in with navy/brown. Pic related is my top plus a newsboy cap.
What's a good tie color/pattern to seal the deal?
fuck prep and fuck white people
>>12036257
Nice, saved for inspo, got more? Btw is that the Ariel quilted jacket from Barbour?
>>12036945
They are hard to find in Germany. I only know of Gant and Ralph Lauren that have this kind of stuff in my area. I don't wanna spend over 100 yurobux on a shirt tho, I got enough shit to pay as a uni student.

>>12035350
>>12037119
why tho? the right fit is dope, but what's wrong with the left one? too slim?
>>12036992
I get the feeling that would go well with a dark tartan tie, or a navy club tie if you have one. Looks good without though
>>12037174
>Looks good without though
Right - I'll see if I can find a simple navy club tie without looking too busy with all the stripes and patterns, but at the same time if I go without one I feel I'll be way too casual in contrast to everyone else
Also, pocket squares - pink, red?.
>>12037101
>They are hard to find in Germany
I understand that, maybe a thrift shop?
If you live close to the netherlands you should go there.
>>12037222
>maybe a thrift shop?
I will look for one, but thrifting isn't really a thing here...most people just sell their stuff on ebay or something similar. I will go through ebay too later.
Can you recommend any brands?
>>12037195
I'm by no means an expert but I'd say go with a pocket square or tie, not both. Because putting a pocket square into the mix just adds to the busyness of the outfit, esp. if you're wearing a cap as well. I'd go for a pocket square and not a tie personally, unless you have a tie that you're sure goes with the outfit
>>12037195
Also in terms of pocket square definitely not pink or red. A toned down colour with a pattern like a paisley or foulard would be ideal - not a solid block colour
>>12037136
both are
Trying to have a suit exactly like this.

I'm trying to be tolerant and open to new things, ivy style has been around for over 50 years with very little change. it can get a little old.
British style is alright, italian/french/continental european style is alright
thom browne, modern BB, RL are alright
hell even self branded "preppy" brands, kjp, southern x frat brands are alright
But for fuck's sake, this is absolutely HARAM. Not because it's not prep. Of course it's not prep. It's simply terrible taste.
That is nouveau riche, precious daddy's boy sissy fag pussy. If you dress like this you are just saying to everybody around that you are a precious little fairy and you belong on rich kids of instagram. Not in a prep thread, and not anywhere people have the slightest bit of taste.
>>12037398
This so much.
Fucking Yuropoors
>>12037327
Dont buy that lol, seriously you will look like a fucking idiot.
Just go with a plain"(no weird fabric) grey or blue
All these threads are pretty much just /kjp/ general
>>12037398
Can't take someone seriously who freaks out about simple driving mocs and a guy wearing a light blue shirt + white pants
>>12037560

This is the best Ivy thread i've seen in a while. We just need to get rid of the fucking annoying yuro daddys money boys. Keep it classic, keep it IVY.

Yeah, as long as its tailored. Dont worry about your height, it mKes you seem like a weiner.
>>12031670
>being this autistic in a sudanese knitting board
>>12038886
you can pull off a suit with virtually any physique if you buy bespoke from a skilled cutter. that particular suit is pretty basic, a staple two piece, two button navy business suit
Is there a set line between trad and prep, or is there a gray zone in the middle where pieces from both can meet?
Do too many styles spoil the broth?
>>12029848
Yes.
>>12038832
kjp can you read
>>12033273
Thanks for this bro
>>12034532
Mods don't really fit in here. Sure they dressed nice but they were more flamboyant
>>12039328
Not really as "trad" is just old style prep. My grandpa authentically dresses "trad" and he went to an Ivy in the 1950s.
>>12039914
Trad is an umbrella term that encompasses all "tradition American" styles
Ivy, 60s counter culture, heavy duty camping, biker, workerwear, vintage military, etc
