It usually looks lazy, not like a style but more just something to keep the hair out of the way.
When it's obviously styled though it looks too contrived.
So I'd say best avoided altogether.

I think they're hard to pull off but can look good if you have the right face and hairline. I'm trying out wearing mine in one at the moment and if nothing else its a lot more comfortable than having hair on your face, something that could also be solved by not having long hair but meh.
