It's not rocket science, buy a well fitting suit, a nice tie, good leather dress shoes and a matching belt, and of course a watch that shows your income.

Avoid oversized lapels, thick fat ties, long pointed collars, fluffy pocket squares, make sure your pants are tapered.
I don't have an opinion on pleats. I like both styles. I don't think pleated pants are out of fashion.
