They have been my go-to boot for rough occasions and I get a surprising amount of compliments on them.

Funny, I just purchased the Corcoran historic brown jump boots in a 13, which is my size in boots. Length wise they are perfect and maybe a bit narrow. For example a doc marten in 13 would be a hair longer and have a much wider toe box. I would always default to sizing up when in doubt too.

I'm not a pro, but they look good to me quality-wise. Stitching, shape, leather structure. Not sure about the sole. There's many factors you can't tell from only pictures. In all honesty, if I were you, I would not hesitate to spend 200 more since you are already within the 300 range. If you spend so much on boots, you might as well go all the way and be perhaps happier in the long run. Keep in mind these can last for a very long time. Also consider a crepe sole if you want that really soft comfy feel.

i wear casual shoes in 43 but those i took 44. also thicker socks are recommended, thats why you need one size bigger. also used boots are fitted to its previous feets. if you wear them for first times and walk around you wil sure hurt your feets. so i would recommend to tape your feets

Pic on the right just came in the mail yesterday. I got mine from swisslink for $40 after shipping and handling.
They came a little roughed up, there was a few white spots, some scratches, a hook was missing, all to be expected since mine were made in 2008.
They were a little larger than I expected but that may be because mine were already broken into.
The leather already had lots of creases in it too, which is nice.
They came with a free credit card knife and exactly two starbursts.

but i own a pair of these boots.
they are pretty nice, but the leather is pretty stiff and will need some time until it gets smooth, on the other hand its pretty thick and if you clean them good and give them a rub with shoecreme every now and then, they will last you forever.
but you should know these are not real outdoor boots, as they are not too warm nor are they padded in some way.
they are more or less the austrian army office boots (as you get another pair, also seen somewhere in this thread, for outdoor service)
