Is being an artist /fa/
Creating things you like is effay. Saying you're an artist isn't
Yeah, but it's more /ic/ if you're talking about drawing and painting or /p/ for photography, etc. /fa/ is intended as a fashion board, not a general lifestyle board so unless you're doing stuff with fashion, it's not technically /fa/.

what is the difference anon
>>11874679
The difference is whether you make it an accessory to your personality or not. Creating art and keeping that to yourself or posting it online anonymously is /fa/
>>11874683
So all credible artists and those who make money aren't /fa/?
>>11874694
not him, but he has point desu.
separating art and money is fa
>>11874735
wow being /fa/ sucks then
if being lonely, poor and depressed is /fa/ then sure
>>11874758
You think relying on art for income is better?
>>11874934
Not him, but infinitely. Making a living off art is miles ahead /fa/ wise as supposed to being an IT wage slave.
Depressed artist core when?
>>11874915
oh but it is Anon
>>11874934
if you can, then yes

>le sellout autism
>(probably just some guy who got rejected by some galleries and wants to shitpost about it online)
literally nothing wrong with making your living doing something you love. you can sell your work without compromising your artistic integrity.

Anon isn't saying there's something wrong with being an artist, he's saying there's an obvious issue when a person focuses more on their image, the image they're hoping to cultivate, and they value how others perceive them more than how they work. Here are some redflags for these kind of people:
>show off their equipment and not their work
>lots of buzzwords and blabber on what it means to be a TRUE artist
>art 101 students who constantly say things like "art is subjective bro theres no such thing as bad art bro"
>constantly try to appear cultured and redined in their tastes by knowing trivial info of big artists (warhol, basquiat, pollock, frida, etc.)
>see art as a 2cool4u club that only the FEW can get into
i could go on but you get the point
Anyone telling you not to call yourself an artist if you make art is an insecure fucking idiot.
>>11875105
This guy's right, the only thing I have a problem with is people being so insecure about their art that they feel the need to incorporate it into their lifestyle. I would probably be labeled an artist but I don't really tell many people about it.

God you're dull.

>people being so insecure about their art that they feel the need to incorporate it into their lifestyle
literally what? if its your profession its your lifestyle. 90% of my time each day is spend on something related in one way or another to art
its more cringy to keep dancing around the word "artist" like its some kind of shameful thing. its pseudo-humble. I mean, when people ask you what you do for a living, you just say "oh I make creative things which I enjoy like paintings"
"oh so youre an artist"
"uhh, no I don't consider myself an artist"

You're a shithead poseur. Die.
