Opinion on chokers?

If you wear one I'm gonna assume you're a trannie with a flawed understanding of female fashion that's mainly dictated by your MALE tastes.
>>
>>11823156
if you wear one of those men are going to think you`re a bit of a whore

>90s revival
not even genuine 90 revival.
It's late-90s/early 2000s shit. Something we've barely just come out of.
>>
>>11823219
fashion's on a roughly 18 year cycle buddy
>>
>>11823217
Don't worry, all you gotta do is commit yourself to the look and wear a diaper in public along with your choker, ballgag and thigh-highs.
>>
>>11823221
Then how come the late 80s/early 90s haven't come back yet? And no, high-waist pants don't account for the entirety of fashion in that era.
>>
asian chicks pull it off pretty good
>>
>>11823234
Only because they look "exotic" so they get a pass for wearing all sorts of goofy shit. Same thing for black dudes and their clown shoes.
>>
>>11823227
>80's/early90s

the fuck are you smoking m80? don't try to get smart with me.
it's 18 years because that's roughly the length of a generation.
every young adult trying to define themselves look back to what was going on at the dawn of their memory and incorporate that into their fashion and ideology for apparent authenticity.
now get the fuck out.
>>
>>11823253
I'm just proving your theory wrong.
If it was accurate then feathered hair, high-waist jeans and all the rest would have come back in the mid-2000s.
>>
>>11823258
you're not proving my theory wrong because it's not my theory.
it's well known fashion industry knowledge.
the only theory going on right now is that the time periods are getting even shorter and shorter because of the the self-referential qualities of the internet and the ability for small subcultures to interact with each other quicker and more often.

Please just fucking leave this place and never come back you ignorant underaged cocksucker.
>>
>>11823270
No, it's a fucking myth.

If it were true, then, as I pointed out, the 80s revival would have happened ten years ago.

But it didn't.

Therefore, it's not a fact.
>>
>>11823280
you were probably too young to see it happening.

and what did happen was inspired from the 80s, but was seriously reinterpreted because they 80s was a time of some serious decadence.

but trust me, bright colors, leg warmers, and side pony tails was in for a second.
>>
>>11823270

>doc martens original trend '92

wtf am i reading? do you mean '52

>flannel original trend '92

yeah maybe 1592

>bellbottoms original trend '95

been popular with sailors for literal centuries. in fashion you can trace them back to at least the mid 1960s

>fringe

since time immemorial
>>
>>11823283
>trust me
why the fuck would I? We were almost certainly the same age. The ONLY substantial callback to the 80s I remember happening in that decade was that French House was fairly popular.

The fact is that fashion has barely evolved between 1998 and 2014. Hipsters rose to prominency but that's all.
>>
>>11823280

>80s revival would have happened 10 years ago
>2016 - 10 = 2006

hmmm what was going on in 2006... what was the most popular music trend.... could it have been.... new wave revival? could it have been the killers who were topping the charts with 80s-esque post-punk ballads?
>>
>>11823294
And it had zero impact on fashion.
>>
>>11823294
>the killers
>new wave
>post-punk
please
they played bland, safe pop-rock like every faggot this side of Coldplay
>>
>>11823290
Yeah actually most of the shit listed here sounds straight out of the 60s/70s
>>
>>11823301

come off it m8

i'm not a fan of the killers, and however poppish they were (are), they were undoubtedly influenced by and using tons of sounds from the 80s and from those two music movements in particular. this is basically factual.

stop idolizing your preferred genres. if you actually knew anything about either new wave or post punk, you'd know that in addition to some of the best music from the 80s, those scenes also had some of the worst music of the 80s. and you would know that new wave in particular was, at the time, some of the most bland, safe, pop music.
>>
>>11823314
Oh it sure had a lot of very bland and soft synthpop, I'm just explaining you that nothing on the radio at that time sounded like it.
Sure there were some callbacks to it (Madonna's singles, the daft punks) but not only was it purely cosmetic, it also had no impact on fashion.
I seem to remember vaguely that some popular brands tried to appeal to disco nostalgia, but that's more of a 70s thing.

The point is that people wearing denim jackets and high-waist pants right now is a much more significant (but still loose) callback to the 80s than whatever was going on in pop music in the mid-2000s.
>>
>>11823317

>The point is that...

that is decidedly not what you were saying in the post I was replying to.

i'll take moving the goalposts for 400 alex
>>
>>11823290
52 + 20 + 20 = 92

dipshit

>>11823317
you're also forgetting bands like LCD soundsystem and hiphop at large.
please talk to me about shutter shades and kids jerking around while still denying that fashion didn't come out of the 80s.
>>
>>11823331
No but it's what I was saying here
>>11823258

And there's no point in explaining you my main point after pointing out why your own point (2000s pop music) was irrelevant (no impact on fashion).
>>
>>11823333
2000s hip-hop was dominated by bling rap. Don't tell me anything of the sort existed in the 80s.

>shutter shades
Big fucking deal. Meanwhile all the chicks were dressing like bohemian hippies from the early 70s.
>>
>>11823333

>52+ 20 + 20 = 92

i'm very glad that you can do basic arithmetic, but you seem to have forgotten how to read. you see, there's this pesky phrase in there: "original trend". whether or not '52 would confirm the 20-year theory is not the issue at hand. the issue at hand is whether or not '92 is the year of the ORIGINAL TREND.

fucking illiterate.
>>
>>11823331
>>11823336
sorry, meant to say no harm*
>>
Fashion since 95 has been 70s revival after 70s revival, with a dash of Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Boggart fetishism and we're barely getting out of it.
>>
>>11823336

music is a part of fashion. fashion doesn't just mean "clothes". clothing trends are a part of fashion.

when we say that something is in the fashion of a particular time, we don't exclusively refer to clothing trends. take this sentence, for example: "He played the piano in the fashion of Liszt."

fashion describes a way of being or acting that includes all sorts of subcategories. how one dresses oneself is merely one of those subcategories.
>>
>>11823353
Those are some impressive mental gymnastics you're making to justify basing your argument around music when posting on /fa/.
>>
>>11823359

calling an argument "mental gymnastics" doesn't actually address the argument's validity or soundness, which are the only things that really matter
>>
>>11823361
Your argument is irrelevant.

This is a board about clothes. Fashion here means clothes. Music is irrelevant.

>This is a board about clothes. Fashion here means clothes.

orly? is that why half of the threads here are about hair, weight, and fragrance?

those are all issues of fashion. because fashion is the way you act or move through the world. it encompasses a lot more than what types of cloth you put over your skin
>>
