What is the bare minimum attire for a funeral?

Depends on a few factors

>Will dressing too casual offend those attending?
>Do you give a shit?
>who was this person to you?

From my experience men usually wear black suit with black tie. Women usually wear black blouse or black dress (still a fashion show)

Sunglasses are okay, even indoors. Hiding emotion is common.

Depending on the weather and place the funeral is taking place bringing a long coat would probably be a good idea if its going to rain/be chilly.

If you show up underdressed to a funeral you might get some looks from closer family, tension is high in times of death and I have heard stories of spouse asking people who show up in T-shirts to just leave.
