I seriously have no clue how people can roll with converse for skating. Hell, even the pro vans models can be super hit or miss.

I'm really into the 90s skate aesthetic but don't want to look like an autistic poser for trying to emulate it without actually skating. Anybody have any advice on what type of skateboard to chopse as a beginner and how to ride one without falling down every 5 meters? I'm not really looking to do any tricks as I'm clumsy as fuck, maybe learn how to do a fucking kickflip but that's it.

independent trucks, spitfire classics wheels (around 55mm/99duro), bones reds bearings. as for the deck, i like to buy local especially if the skateshop has one of their own decks because theyll usually be a little cheaper. but if not i choose a local nyc company like ive had jamaica, coda, and hotel blue decks recently. and if youre just starting out i would do an 8 or 8.25 inch deck. any other questions ask the guy at your local skateshop. oh and dont get anything neon colored, and opt for plain black griptape (jessup or mob) not the stuff with words or prints on it
