will the ssense sales end in july or august?

I make between 700-900 a paycheck, and I'm thinking of getting OT to have some extra cash to cop a new pair of shoes.

if it ends in july at least I'll have some extra money for bills and my new apartment.

Design and art is all fine and dandy and it comes with clothing a lot of times, but a you should mostly pay for functionality. When something becomes mostly for show it's frivolous, and frankly a reckless decision.
Not to say this board is silly. Fashion is a somewhat important hobby that can be very useful, but when you buy $50 of functionality and $900 of bells and whistles, it kinda makes you seem like a jackass, no offense.
>>
>>11385605
>functionality
You don't wanna go throwing that word around like you know what it means friend.
Almost no one dresses just for functionality or purely on price/quality ration of clothes
Unless "functionality" means "have something to cover myself" in which case you should have chosen your words better anyway
>>
>>11385285
They're stretchy leather
>>
>>11378921

>>
>>11378398
I know its your money but why the fuck would you spend it on 600 dollar shoes that is the stupidest fucking thing i have ever seen, and not even nice looking shoes either. Fucking idiocy
>>
>>11383234
>only drawback

yeah you forgot the part where they're fucking 5 times more expensive.
>>
all the AdiRick stuff is made in China.. not worth the price tag.
>>
>>11385632
I never mentioned or implied people dress for solely "something to cover myself". I don't know where you're getting that.
Fashion is important, and serves it's purpose, but spending $500 on lounge pants is asinine, sorry to burst your bubble.
>>
>>11385716
OP obviously operates on a socioeconomic level that you frankly couldn't fathom.
>>
>>11385632
I dress for functionality and for looking good. Its nice to be a fit, tall, tan guy who can wear whatever he damn well pleases. Khaki shorts / vintage board shorts and a graphic tee or a polo tee shirt with some adidas classics. Looks flashy for those who know the brands, blends in for the people who don't care, and draws the eye of half the chicks i see. Dressing like a faggot to somehow feel superior to everyone else means you're lacking in some part of your life.
>>
>>11385724
>>11385731
>>11385746
It's not even that much money. You plebs are just poor, and don't know how to dress.
>>
>>11385731
why are you here?
>>
>>11385734
Even if i had 10 million dollars to spend, i wouldn't buy a single article of clothing worth more than Maybe 250. Im on my way to that sometime in my life, and when i get there after saving and investing the money i don't blow on 500 dollar shoes, I'm going to look back on all of you and laugh as the 1000 dollars i decided to not blow on clothes 20 years ago becomes worth 5,000 dollars. Just Do the fucking math and you'll be able to buy 10 pairs of those shoes 20 years down the line without moving a finger
>>
>>11385746
cool. I get that fashion isn't for everyone
but if you honestly don't care, why browse a fashion board?
>>
>>11385769

Sure thing, kiddo.
>>
>>11385731
Hey someone else who uses common sense.
>>11385753
I dress to please the populous and myself, not to look like a special snowflake who has no apparent fashion sense.

>>
>>11385746

>>
>>11385765
Holy fuck, I explain the utility of fashion in a thread full of eggheads who think spending thousands of dollars for lounge cloths is a wise investment, and all of a sudden some troll who doesn't browse this board for genuine enjoyment and inspirations.

It's as if you haven't read a single sentence i've typed.
>>
>>11385777
Investing 1 dollar at 8% yearly compound interest will end up being worth 119 dollars in 60 years.

If you invest 5k at 8% yearly compound interest it will be worth 600,000 dollars in 60 years.
Now lets take into consideration that 8% is a very high yield and you're highly unlikely to find that, but you'll at least be able to get 3%, which turns 5k into 30k in 60 years. This is why you people are fucking idiots for blowing this much cash on shitty looking clothes
>>
>>11385776
but the thing is, i do care. I come here for the street clothing threads.
>>
is it that time of the year already?
>>
/fa/ is a circle jerk
>>
>>11385793
Lmao I'm a finance major and I get that u figured out your BA-2 calculator, but being that no clothes will rise in value except for rare pieces, every Hanes t-shirt you own is a "bad investment" by your standards. You can't measure personal utility on things like this.
>>
>>11385809
Bullshit, A finance major probably would've figured out that there are zero banks that offer a 3% cmpd interest rate. 1% tops is what you get. I Know i used bad rates but its still a valid point.
>>
>>11385769
But what's the point of all that money layer when you've squandered your youth? As long as you're responsible you're not putting everything into clothing? I'd rather spend $1500 to feel good in my youth than have an additional 10k at age 50 or so, it's just such a negligible amount for satisfaction, especially when 10k would only be living expenses for maybe 6 months when living somewhere nice. I'm gonna spend money because that's really it's only use and any other belief is a sad obsession.
>>
>>11385792
efficiency wise its actually a good investment compared to shitty clothes you buy from the mall
they hold value to the aftermarket and you can retain ~70% of what you paid most of the time, compared to disposable fast fashion
>>
>>11385809
Also, there are necessary and unnecessary clothing items to own. Something that looks good and isn't outrageously expensive is a necessary item to own if you value not looking blind. Unnecessary is spending 500 fucking dollars on shoes you're going to be terrified of actually wearing and sulk if someone as much as splashes water on them.
>>
>>11385746
You realize this board is for discussion about fashion and not about what walmart trousers would be best suited for your next hike, or which of these skulls and flames graphic tee-shirts are gonna pull the most bitches?
>>
>>11385816
It just depends on what you spend it on. 500 bucks on shoes is retarded, its an almost purely objective statement. 1500 is fine as long as its just over the course of a few years.
>>
>>11385824
i don't think anyone here is arguing for spending 500 on shoes you're afraid of wearing
>>
>>11385724
Except on sale it's not even twice as expensive? And sure, design and quality cost, sometimes to a point in which it can feel absurd, but people value different things - and also have different concepts of value for money. $200 really isn't bad to spend on something manufactured in a more humane environment with better materials.

>>
>>11385835
The funny part is, you're not actually getting a deal. You're not saving anything, you're just paying 500 dollars for the shoes. Thats what they priced them at. And think, if they can shave off 500 dollars from the price tag and still make at least 3x their money, think of how fucking inexpensive it is to make those.

>>
>>11385892

>>
>>11385858
It seems you don't really have a solid idea about retail pricing. Typically practice is that consumer price is x2 distribution pricing, some places like ssense are definitely place ultra premiums on goods because they can, so let's assume they use a x3 markup. Manufacture to distributor markup tends to be x2 - x4 depending on efficiency.

500 retail initially that means it cost them approx 150 a unit - making 200 a slim profit for the retailer.

The actual brand probably spent at least $50 to manufacture each unit, potentially more or less, I didn't look at the specific location if production.

This is mostly speculation, but speculation based on an education in industrial design. Accounting for design, marketing, and distribution, the profit margins aren't as insane as people like to think.

lol you talk as you've actually handled the made in italy pieces

you were probably like 12 when they were made in italy, don't front homie

honestly, how much of quality could you actually discern from secondhand pieces you saw that one time from that guy in the subway?

i can see they are two different shoes now, not pbecause they're made in portugal

you sound like those faggots that cry about a garment's quality and the decline of the "golden age" for not using riri zippers or changed manufacturing

"Made in Italy" does not equal quality. (this is some 90's bullshit that plebs eat up)

not saying the quality is as good, but saying your critique backed up from internet forum posts without actual first hand experience is such a faggot front
>>

>>
>>11388138
i made the mistake with getting the portugal pairs, they really did look completely fcked compared to velcros ive seen online
thats when i found out about them moving manufacturing countries, and trust me it really is noticeable
like the leather is all shiny and shit and the silhouette is much more square and doesn't look nearly as nice
>>
>>11388138
>>11389893

It has more to do with the individual season than the "Made in Portugal" part. Some seasons are abysmal shit-tier shoes although this season's offerings seem pretty good from the pictures. I have a theory that Raf keeps his brand propped up with his own money and that's why he has to take jobs at Jil Sander, Dior, and presumably Calvin Klein next. His velcros from his Jil Sander era were the shittiest but they got good again after he got some serious cash working at Dior.

And AW15 velcros were made in Italy. He probably switched them back because he's broke again.
