H&M is a good store for some cheap basics. I think it's a great place for any beginner to start. They're cheap so I guess this contradicts that other anon's advice but who it's up to you to decide who you want to listen to. There are ups and downs to buying cheap clothing. Make sure you have a strong understanding of color coordination. Continue to learn about fashion and look at what people wear and you will start to get an idea of what you want your style to be like.

You might want to get a new haircut but I would wait a bit to make sure it's something you really want and it fits your face. Don't just jump on to the latest memetrain. Put some thought into it. Once you've decided what you want, show a picture of it to the person cutting your hair.

Eat healthier and try to get some exercise if you don't already. Unless you're into heroic chic, being healthy is pretty much always a plus.

Last but definitely not least, don't get sucked into this shithole. There is occasionally some good advice, you can learn about new trends, and you can discover new brands, but it's also a horrible, toxic time suck that crushes your self esteem.
