Even so, /fa/ is fashion shitposting like how any 4chan board is its respective topic and shitposting with your occasional person who knows a thing or two about fashion. 4chan boards are generally less of a board for insider people but for enthusiasts

The problem is, at least in the PNW, most designers are very isolated in their cliches. Sure every time I talk to them I have something to say to them, but they have nothing to say to me (besides "think you can sell this wholesale?").

Places like reddit and forums are the worst of the worst. Working in the fashion industry you work with some of the least talented people (besides designers and stylists) you've ever met. Even designers are laughable a lot of the time.

I think you misunderstood me. I said 4chan is for enthusiasts and not insiders. Sure you have some insiders but they tend to be less than a percent of the board's population. Its just that the nature of the site promotes enthusiasts to shitpost.

I agree with you though that most people here are in it just to look good/trendy as it's another misconception most people have with being interested in fashion.

/fa/ generally follows most of the more popular fashion designers who generally have a lot to say about fashion, i can imagine it isnt the same talking to lesser known designers who dont have such a large position or background in the industry
but this board is mostly full of consumers anyway and not nearly as many producers or contributors, it is much harder to get your foot in the fashion industry than say something like producing your own music at home

There is kind of a base level when talking about fashion that people understand- more broadly talked about as "style tribes" and on a personal level having a "look". I've yet to even hear anything about that. And its mostly the most generic normcore talk imaginable.
