Just thought this would be a fun thread idea for people who might not know how to wear certain articles of clothing, or accessories.

Possibly how to wear something a certain way without looking dumb.

inb4 >"impossible to wear"

I'll start off. How do you wear bracelets and rings and "hand-accessories" without looking like a tool?
>>
Confidence is the key to wearing anything out-of-the-ordinary or "impossible", as you say.

I know it's passe to /thread your own post, but I believe this is a true /thread, as there is no greater answer than confidence.
>>
I forsee 3/4 of the replies being something to the effect of "you don't," but I appreciate the effort.

To answer your question, I think it depends on the bracelet and the outfit. Some bracelets are just silly/too flashy for certain types of dress. Think about materials and shape. General design. Same goes with rings.
>>
How did chukkas make it in streetwear.

They look too mature for them.

wu who in turn probably got it from somewhere else idk

the tshirt is separate but im lazy. its also a much more washed out blue and white than my camera shows.

i bought some neutral green shorts to go with it and i was thinking sandals.. was gonna be just for the beach but i really like it for some reason.

i think what you're thinking would look pretty neat depending on sandals.
post fit if you try it out.

>>11272171
to an extent he is very right though being confident doesn't give people the right to tell you that you look bad. if you don't feel confident wearing something then it probably doesnt look good. easy as that

I bought these the other day. They look good with a sweater but I can't figure out what to do for more summery weather. I have a bit of a gut that I'm working on getting rid of, so I can't really do the sharp tucked shirt look like the guy in the pic.

how do I wear wool trousers or corduroys?

how do I wear a sport coat (tweed, elbow patches, etc) without a tie?

how the flying fuck do you wear a cardigan?
>>
>>11272150
Assuming it fits pretty baggy, wear it with tight black slacks (not jeans) and tuck it in. Unbutton it 3-4 buttons from top. Black derby shoes

Another suggestion would be to wear it with washed out levis 501 straight fit for a baggy, relaxed feel. Shoes can be some canvas trainers, like shoes like pottery or eytys or hell even sandals like birkenstocks.

Shirt's gotta fit baggy, though. Otherwise it just looks tryhard

with all due respect it'd be hard to pull these off without looking skinny/normal weight. wear an oversized white tee on top, or untucked broadcloth shirt. You don't want to wear oxford cloth because the textures would look funky. Wear smoother tops that are pastel colored. avoid blue, though

>>11274577
Would look dope with some cream/beige sneakers (pic related). Wear them with light wash, dad jeans with a very slight crop, like 1.5 inches at most

If I'm wearing a a pattern, everything else is a solid color. Wearing more than one pattern is generally known as a 'faux pas' but no one is stopping you if you think it looks good.

>>
>>11271648
>How do you wear bracelets and rings and "hand-accessories" without looking like a tool?
If you get like a really fuckhuge solid gold bracelet you'll look like an Indian instead. Otherwise this really is a confidence thing. Like if you act like it obviously belongs there it'll work, if you "accessorized your fit with this bracelet" you'll inevitably look like either a tool or a literal faggot.
>>
>>11274604
>how do I wear wool trousers or corduroys?
Wear cords with a tweed jacket. "Wool trousers" is pretty fucking broad but if you mean worsteds like suit trousers, wear them with a non-matching suit jacket/blazer.

>how do I wear a sport coat (tweed, elbow patches, etc) without a tie?
Unbutton the top shirt button? This honestly doesn't seem hard to me, although I prefer tie. Wear a button-down collar to keep the points from fucking off every which way, it also looks more casual.
Oh yeah, and avoid the elbow patches unless you've actually worn a hole in the elbows of the jacket. Those are a fix to save an otherwise fine jacket, not a fashion detail.

>how the flying fuck do you wear a cardigan?
No idea on this one, I just envision Liam Clancy whenever I try to figure it out.

Imo rings on a man look best in fits that evoke a midcentury travelled-exotic, i.e. businessman in tangiers, wealthy europeans with dark tastes. it's very hard to escape the occult connotations it carries.

chunky military boots are essential but the accessories are what make the fit: black baseball/military cap, rings on hand, cross necklace etc. assuming you're a guy. used to have an orange boiler suit I'd wear to shows. it's important the waist is decently tight.

been wanting to cop more jumpsuits but kva is the only one I see out there for men and I'm not a fan of his fits. thinking about learning to put together my own, looking for a fit similar to on the left, thinking deep died indigo or waxed linen

With literally anything. Any shade of blue would work, same with green and some variations of brown. Stick with jeans or go for a sateen or thin cord pant.
>>
Bought these linen pants but they're too small in the hips. I'm a 30 waist but larger in the thigh I guess. Is there any way I can physically wear them? My mother said I could try and use a seam ripper to remove the first seam on the outer edges
>>
>>11275701
Depends on how much excess material is in the stress point. If it's sewn like selvedge jeans and you have that ~2cm of material, you can possibly get it tailored, assuming that's all the extra space you need. Otherwise you'd have to swap in more material, which you could get from hemming I guess. If not, you're shit outta luck.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking of. Pic related is the seam. I feel like an idiot, I didn't realize that linen isn't stretchy at all. Would having a tailor reduce this seam add a significant amount of room?
>>
>>11275719
>Would having a tailor reduce this seam add a significant amount of room?
Nope, not at all. Can you afford to hem them, or even taper in the calves? They could (crudely) add the extra material and stitch it up. That's more of a last resort, but you don't really have many other options. Might be a lost cause, sorry anon.
>>
>>11275725
>Can you afford to hem them, or even taper in the calves
Yes, I was planning on doing both actually. I would have around 2 inches of length removed and would have them tapered as well
>>
>>11275734
It'll cost more, but ask your tailor about it when you go in. They should be willing to do it, as it's possible, if a little difficult. Just remember that you can only widen them as far and as deep as the raw materials you have. Hopefully you don't need to go far down the pants, either.

It's a meme in a sense. A toxic motivational mantra repeated by newfags who can't dress.

And misintrepreted/inverted: Yes, inconfidence will ruin any fit, even if it might've been good. Confidence doesn't magically make a shitty fit good.

In other words, confidence is just a basic pre-requisite to dressing well. It's not relevant for anyone but tween newfags.

It's more important is to be sensitive to how a fit makes you feel - on a lot of different levels than simply "confident" or "good about yourself" - as it's one of the best measures to let you know what does look good aesthetically on your own frame and natural to your own personality/lifestyle.
