Since when? It's not a pretentious nor an over-expensive brand at all.

This model has a military past like the Amphibia as well since it used to be the official diver's watch of the Italian navy.

There are no Orient fakes since it's not a premium brand. Just avoid anything coming from India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam or Philippines and you'll be ok.

Currently I have a cheapo Timex and a 50's Waltham (probably Swiss made unfortunately) as my main timepieces, but I'm thinking about getting something midcentury and oriental.

60's~70's Seiko dress and sports watches (Lord Marvel, Marvel, Grand Seiko, Seikomatic, Sportsmatic, Actus, etc) seem to fit the bill and they seem to be going around ebay for anything between 40 and 300 dollars. What would you guys pay for these kinds of watches?

I can't. The stainless, regular production Offshore is a really fun but also top-tier quality sport watch. Don't care for the special editions for the most part.

The special editions are an adoption of Hublot marketing, but the original Royal Oak was the first of its kind and the Offshore isn't exactly a radical departure from that.

I dig this watch so much. I have a few watches that were gifted to me from family members. I just recently got a job and I'm thinking of dropping my hard earned money (first time buying with my money) on a Man on the Moon or a Reverso from Jaeger-Lecoultre. I have to wear a suit at work so the Reverso would be a really nice option.

What do you guys think?

this is the truth. A real watch enthusiast also sees the value in low-budget watches. I've met rolex owners that bought seikos in the 200usd range (which is relatively cheap) after having bought 5k watches.

>Orient Bambino

goog choice. I don't like Orients much because they rarely have 38mm diameter models but mostly only a bit bigger than that at 43mm.

yeah, Boccia is pretty nice. can recommend to the /fa/ community. some of them also have sapphire crystals while still being very affordable.

but there is a word of caution. some of their watches from amazon (not all because a lot of them, especially the more expensive ones around 100 bucks include photos with a nice boccia leather box) don't come in a prodective watchbox which happened with mine. I assume it's because it's a cheaper model at only 60 euros, so it was to be expected I guess.

it just came in a plastic sleeve inside an ordinary amazon packaging. that pissed me off a little bit.
so I thought I should let you know.

regardless of that, the watch wasn't damaged in any way and it's still great quality otherwise. especially the leather strap convinced me.

they get pretty high ratings in customer reviews on amazon too. here is another similar one I liked. your would-get favorite looks really nice too. I like the blue hands and markers.

My grandad passed away a few months ago and left me a yellow gold grand lange as he knows I like watches

You wouldn't, the fact you know the watch is expensive means you are a classy gentleman

can someone identify this? it's a custom band obviously but it's a watch my grandfather got from his job for a 20th anniversary there.. it's engraved on the back and says it's from 1967. It looks like a geneve but I'm not sure if it's even authentic because it doesn't say geneve on the face. It's also in pretty beat up condition aswell.
>>
Best watch for $1000?
>>
>>11275721
looks legit anon. geneves are just a particular model of omegas, as are seamasters and devilles. there are omegas out there that are simply handwound with no additional labels
>>
>>11275721
also, my recommendation if you get it serviced (which you should):
- have them replace the crystal with another domed acrylic
- keep the dial original, don't refinish it
- polish and clean the metal
- replace the rubber gaskets

also, take a pic of the crown. if it has an omega symbol on it, the crown is legit

I took a creepshot (yeah, I know) of this guy I briefly saw wearing this watch, can someone tell me where I could find something similar?

>leather band
>golden frame
>sort of rounded, convex glass

I figure I could browse some pawn shops for this kind of old timey stuff, but there aren't many where I live :/

Orient Bambino for new, Omega Deville for vintage. Lots of frankens for the Omega, watch what you buy and remember to factor in servicing costs.

I held off on buying a Bambino so long because of it. In person tho you hardly notice it and you get over it quickly, at least I did

it all depends on the movement, if it just needs some cleaning it wont set you back much, if some pieces are rusted you might have to replace a considerable part of it, costing you quite a lot

I don't get the "brand names, emblems and writings on the dial are not allowed, it has to be blank" autist hipster normies either.

that water resist line isn't even obnoxious looking.

>brand names, emblems and writings on the dial are not allowed, it has to be blank
I'm not opposed to any of that, it's just a "Water Resist" label on a Bambino seems rather pointless, unnecessary information. I'd rather it say "Automatic" or even "Japan Made" or something if they wanted words there to fill that space

Works, won't break. Who cares what it looks like as long as it isn't a bright solid color?

Nice, minimalist quartz fashion watch. Owned by Fossil but their own brand, if you like the design ID say go for it. Personally I think the Hagen and Holst World Time watches are their best offerings.
