I'd say get a 3 or 4 on the sides and let them go to about an inch/inch and a half.

The top has got to be about 7 or 8 inches.

Don't know about the back though.

As for texture, don't bother if you have thin hair. Wash your hair like once a week or, alternatively, put some product in it every morning. I'd suggest V05 Matt Clay or it's overseas equivalent.

If I'm wrong, please, by all means, correct me. It's not like I know what I'm talking about.

Just let it keep growing on top and cut the sides short periodically, the back you kind of need to play by ear because you don't want it looking too much like a bowl cut but also not about the harry styles look

Yeah, I'd say so. If you try it and aren't okay with the way it turns out, straighten it after putting the product in. My hair is nowhere near that wavy, but when it gets long, I need to straighten it a little every morning.
