All these people are retarded and have obviously never been hiking before, if you want to look effay in the woods go to your local arcteryx store or REI/MEC, get a nice shell coat and a wool undercoat and either rain pants or some other hiking pants they have there. Really you want clothes more for durability and usage in the woods because the elements can change on you so quickly, also get good leather hiking boots.

I've lived in the rocky mountains for weeks at a time actually, and I can say gore tex is by far the best type of rain jacket I've ever owned, you also seemed to miss the part where I said get a wool undercoat, because I agree wool is the best insulator, although its not waterproof it dries very quickly and you stay warm when its soaking wet.

Also I've gone backcountry hiking, followed animal trails and gone bushwacking with a nice pair of leather boots and there's no tears in them? How could moccasins hold up compared to those? Do you realise how much bramble and undergrowth there is? You would tear up your feet in an hour or two wearing moccasins.

Y'all need to go outdoors more often, ps this is a pic of a mountain i climbed after spending a couple weeks going through the backcountry in the ghost river wilderness reserve.

The rocky mountains receive very little rain because they're inland. try going to a place that gets 15 feet of rain a year and is constantly cold and overcast (lake district) and you'll find that your shitty gore tex doesn't work.


Why do you think the native injuns wore moccasins if they got torn up in less than a day? They didn't have trails or paths, they walked off trail in bad conditions and they wore moccasins, because they're actually good. Please use some logic; moccasins aren't a new invention.

I don't google "best way to dress when going outdoors" because I've been taught to dress in wool and furs in winter by my father and my father got taught by his grandfather before him. I've hiked, bicycle toured, ran ultras, ice/trad. climbed in UK, the Alps and in the Rockies. If you think 'Arcteryx and synthetics' are shit then either you don't know how to use them or they are not relevant to your end use.

If you're just going to go deer stalking or bushcrafting 'innawoods' then sure, dress in all dead animals and stone age shoes. Just recognise that technical fabrics are one of the best tools man has utilised to travel to parts of the planet inaccessible otherwise and achieve athletic feats otherwise impossible.

Topo designs and Poler Stuff make kinda /fa/ stuff for outdoor activities. Obviously it's not as efficient as stuff you'd find at campmor and Eastern Mountain Sports, but that's what you sacrifice if you really want to look good in the mountains
