It's technically "workwear" brand so they make cheap, durable clothing, which is also ideal for skateboarding since you go through pants pretty fast when you fall.
It's also kinda funny how skateboarders have been wearing Dickies for 30 years and Levi's introduced "brand new" technology with their skateboarding line where they add cordura to their denim to make it more durable.

Dickies is workwear, it's made to be as durable as possible on a low price point. The basic Dickies workpants are polyester/cotton blend which isn't very comfortable or high quality but it's lot more durable than denim you could get at the same price.
