I am thinking about copping some ACRONYM pants, but not sure on which model I want. I know I want some P10's but not which type. Does anyone know the key differences between the P10-S, P10-DS and P-10CH? Which would be the most waterproof?

acrnm products use a designation system of
> type - style - [ variant ] - fabric
S is hd gabardine cotton, DS is schoeller dry skin, CH is industrial micro twill.
Most of those fabrics are produced by schoeller so just go to their site and read the specs they provide

DS: http://www.schoeller-textiles.com/en/fabric-groups/soft-shell/schoellerR-dryskin.html

just google the other two.

In general S and CH have some natural hydrophobic properties in combination with a wash in or iron on DWR, DS is a soft shell and is hydrophilic hydrophobic so it will wick sweat.

DS and CH are stretch fabrics, where are as S will have as much stretch as you would expect from heavy cotton.

Anecdotally I've heard that CH can get quite swampy in the summer and that it isn't as breathable as other models. DS is likely the most breathable, lightweight and stretchy - I don't know how performant the weather proofing is.

S tends to be the best all around - the cotton wears well and is very robust, still quite breathable, water repellency is dec.

Regardless of what you get regular maintenance of reproofing is required (i recommend nikwax spray on).

it's not
style is a fashion term for a garment
or you could be pretentious and refer to everything as garments
model isn't used in this industry to identify a product
>>
>>11103579
well that's just plain wrong friendo

model is arguably a stronger word than style for what's being conveyed, style can also describe how an article is worn
>>
>>11102882
what shoes?
>>
>>11103610
i'm in this industry, i know what i'm talking about
we assign style numbers, not model numbers
and yes, style is also a term for how clothing is worn, but words have multiple meanings
drape can be used as the way the fabric hangs as well as an a form of developing a pattern by using fabric on a bodice rather than using a pattern block
>>
>>11103759
even if you work in the industry, thinking that guy was calling the pants a model to try to make them seem more like a tool than clothes was a really stupid thing to think. even if in your experience nobody in the industry says model, people outside of it that dont know that will just see you as super autistic for getting this bothered about a possibly misused word when you and everyone else knew what they meant
>>
>>11103759

>>11103784
i never said that anon's use of model made them seem more like a tool
and no
normal people don't use the word model to describe clothes
they just say those pants or those shorts etc
using wrong terminology isn't what bothers me about you nerds, it's that you guys refuse to learn anything
you are just a consumer
you are not as knowledgeable as you think you are

If they all need reproofing what's the point? I already have OUTLIER pants and from what I can tell the material itself is hydrophobic, i've also tested it out and the water just rolls right the fuck off.

DWR always needs reproofing after a while. The Outlier fabric will too.
>>
>>11104115

water proofing and repellency is typically a trade off for breathability and stretch.

the only way to get total water proof jawn is to have a water proof membrane and taped seams. An example of that would be a gore text jacket.

Even with a gore text jacket it's typixally made of 3 layers, an exterior layer that is what is visible on the outside, a membrane and a lining all sandwiched together. even got tex can be nifty from reproofing as the exterior layer can wet out and hold water in the fibre even if it doesn't penetrate the membrane.

natural hydrophilic properties are usually determined by how tight the weave is as to prevent water from passing through as well as more the pores in the fabric absorb water. Dwr prevents the fibres from holding water so that paired with a tight weave will result in high surface tension and cause the water to shed.

I'm not saying that the water repellentcy or any other utility that acrnm provides is worth it - because it's not.

be honest with with yourself if you are going to purchase acrnm and realize that a lot of what you pay for is design - quality control - and the small volume its produced in (major factor). if all you want is water proof pants you can get that and gore tex shell from mec for 250
>>
>>11104813
Is tech wear durable, from I what I hear you have to reapply the waterproof material, or even just buy a new she'll after some time.

If I don't care about being exclusively tech wear, could I just buy a waxed jacket that will last forever?

Cool video but I hope it's at least a little tongue in cheek.

define durable

Will the material hold up to abrasion, damage, tearing? dependant on material.
Heavier materials like garadine and industrial twill will wear longer than a gore tex shell.

Any damage or dirt/soiling will impair any kind of water resistant material's ability to repel water.

If all you want is a water proof jacket and you're on a budget then yes by all means by something in your budget.
Lots of brands offer much cheaper waxed cotton jackets,, you can even wax a jacket that you already have - or you can find a cheaper gore tex shell from an outdoors brand like mec or patagonia.

When considering if you can proof a jacket you already own the tightness of the weave will determine how effective it will be. a cotton sweater wont work as well as a cotton military parka.

Don't buy acrnm just because of the water proofing. While they are very good at doing it and the fabrics that they select are well suited for it, there are much much much cheaper options if that's the only thing you're looking for.

If you are buying acrnm you should be doing so for the design, ergonomics, and build quality, water proofing is icing on the cake. it's important to recognize that it is a *luxury* brand, so the price tag is not necessarily proportional to utility.

Lotus is a beautiful car, has good performance, and is relatively economical given who awesome it is.

There is nothing more manly then confidently driving a small car. On the opposite end, it is cringe worthy having a big truck just for your ego or whatever.
>>
>>11109286
this is wrong desu. lotus looks like an awful bug. the side is a clear copy of the mclaren mp4. if you want a small good looking car, you get an alfa romeo, porsche 911 (which is still femme), audi tt, (miata lol) etc. If some dirty hick got out of an f-150 and a man in a suit got out of a lotus, I would assume the man in the suit has no taste and the hick at least understands utility.
