That's crazy, zegna frames are usually pretty moderately priced, scoring them at a discount place is pretty sick.

Id go back and see if they had dita and Oliver people's frames in the $49 frame section and like a handful of persols for $30

I don't know, I really like the designs of them. I know I can get similar designs and shit for cheaper prices, bu still. I've got a pair of Wayfarers that are sunglasses, and now the Clubmaster prescription glasses. I feel that they fit/suit my face quite well, better than any other glasses that I've worn.

What I'm wearing for the past 1.5~ years, maybe even more.

Btw I'm actually selling glasses, so if you want something that's /fa/ don't just buy whatever's in now, make sure actually that they fit your face (and by that I mean your nose and eye brows).

Round glasses aren't for everyone, yet lately I've seen more and more people interested in them. Rectangle is pretty out-of-style right now and they tend to have a cheaper look and fit less people - that being said my previous glasses were Prada's VPS 03C.

Also, if you aren't Asian (Korean/japanese) don't buy those round glasses with next to now frame around the lens.

If anyone has any questions regarding frames, lenses or opticianry in general, shoot.

Kindly elaborate on the

part.
Just as a matter of interest.
>>
>>10979910
1. Can you give the model number of your pic?
2. What do you mean with 'fit your eyebrows'?
>>
>>10979947
See pic related, those just seem silly on Caucasian face (and I rarely see black people and even less black people with glasses, European here)
I'm not sure exactly what the reason behind it is, but my assumption is that it has something to do with facial structure, especially with the eye shape which makes the lens and the eye pop out more for asians, in contrast to Caucasian faces. (While for us it makes more sense to have a smaller lense and a thicker frame, i.e. the picture from my original post which I am wearing as we speak.)

>>10979949
1. Yes, it's in the filename - RB 5283 and the colour is 5139. The size I'm wearing is 49-21, and I am about 184 cm in height (I think that's 6 feet) and weigh about 85kg with a not too skinny face.

2. By fitting your eyebrows I mean that the curve (if it has any, or if your brows have any for that matter) of your frame (the top of your frame) fits your eyebrows. So if you have somewhat curved eyebrows (As I do) you chose a frame which is also slightly curved (Such as the picture in my original post), but if you have straight eyebrows then glasses with a straight top part of the frame will compliment that facial feature of yours more.
+ In regards to positioning, it would be preferable for your frame to be slightly below your eye brows. From a formal standpoint this is better so your dead skin, sweat and hairs don't get transfered easily onto your lens - so it doesn't get dirty that easily, and from a material standpoint it looks better than having your frame cover up your brows or God forbid being even above it. Exceptions may apply in regards to sunglasses, especially some of the more fancy ones, like Dior So Real and Dior Abstract (2016).

hit up a lens crafter or something and literally try on everything you like, and even a few that you don't like. it's all about how the frames compliment your face.

people will say A works this type of face and B works with this kind of hair, but you really don't know unless you go try on a shit ton.

once you find a few you like, write down the length, width, height, etc.

>Opinions on warby Parker frames?
I have the Stockton and I like it. You can feel the cheapness though. There are things like creaky plastic and the lenses just don't feel very solid in the frames. Solid enough though that I haven't had any actual issues.

The customer service department is very nice and helpful, but unless you live near a WP store (which as far as I know there aren't many of them) you have to do everything by standard mail which usually takes some time. I had some issues and went back and forth with the company and it (understandably) took forever to get everything situated.

So overall, they're nice but understand the price is low for a reason and that it can take time to do things by mail.
>>
>>10981633
they're good. avoid all this "round glasses are for asians" bullshit.
>>
>>10981700
where does that idea even come from, though? I mean, round glasses pretty much belong to Ozzy and asians are nowhere even close to his league.

>>
>>10981674
The shuron browline glasses are less well done IMO the arms have that awkward cutout , the temples aren't flush to the end of the frame

And the decorations at the temple and arms of the frames look hideous

The ray ban club masters aren't even labeled ray ban on the temples so I don't see what your issue is

Optician here

1. Every person NEEDS a pair of sunglasses for outside during the day, the UV rays cause cataracts and macular degeneration later in life. Transitions don't cut it, make sure the lens you are purchasing is 100% UVA and UVB protection.

2. Always go to an independant doctor of optometry for your eye exam. They cost more than the chains but you will get a far more accurate prescription.

3. If your RX is not high (in between +2.00 and -2.00) glass is ideal vision wise, but is sometimes expensive, CR-39 is the next best thing, NEVER GET POLYCARBONATE IT IS WORSE VISION WISE ONLY GOOD FOR CHILDREN AND IRRESPONSIBLE ADULTS

4. If your RX is high (above +2.00 or below -2.00) look for hi-index plastic lenses. AS ABOVE NEVER USE POLYCARBONATE LENSES

5. Always get the anti-reflective coating, the most important add-on vision wise, this will eliminate glare and wont make you look like a dork/improve your vision tremendously

6. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS bring your glasses to your optometrist to check them for accuracy, mistakes in the industry are frequent and SOME CHAINS WONT EVEN LOOK

7. When you come in to buy perscription glasses, ask if they have a certified optician on staff (they should), ask to work with them. they let any old joe sell you glasses but only an experienced licenced optician can really find what will work best for you.

are hi-index lenses as abrasion-resistant as cr-39?
>>
>>10983281
Both have moderate to light scratch protection about equal

The selling point of high index lenses are that they are super thin

The optics arn't quite as good but they are super light weight. If you have cr-39 right now and like the thickness and weight i'd say stick with it or consider glass as an optical upgrade

Trivex is a bit more compicated

Basically some of the benifits of all of the lenses but not quite as good at any of them either

It's thinner than cr-39 but not as thin as high index
It's more impact resistant than cr-39 but not as good as poly
It's better optically than Poly but not as good as cr-39 or glass

Like the accent at the back though.

Companies don't like to sell it because it's expensive to make, they don't profit as much

You're more likely to find glass at a brick and morter store, they will try to steer you away though

I have a thing against that style so I'm biased

But seriously why are clubmaster aka gay eyebrows so popular?
>>
>>10989484
honestly idk. i initially wanted minimal metal circle frames but i feel raybans are pretty accessible for pretty much any face
>>
>>10989417
I think they werk. Pretty snappy.

>>10988565

The truth is that my face isnt the best possible shape and these kind of glasses are almost only ones that look somehow good on me, atleast i think so myself. And those Hugos fit good and are comfortable.

Also first glasses ever, had to go with something safe.

hi index isn't a material

if you absolutley need poly carb for whatever reason, opt for the trivex branded variant.

nikon won't even touch the shit

>>10983201
half of this is loaded advice, most of the coatings tend to be wiped away with simple glass cleaner

and most AR coatings tend to fade in spots

if you ever seen glasses with a dull spot in the coating it's the AR degrading.

also most AR coatings tend to craze, since it's just a dipping process into some plastic shit.

this is crazing, im sure you're seen it

Most opto's won't sell you glass (borosilicate) since it is less profitable, the most profitable is polycarb hence it's pushed HARD for everyone.

also keep in mind that
opto's aren't doctors

it's a 2 year degree path at a community college

real glass is heavy and thick
>>
>>10986986
they do, but it's mostly only avalible at higher end retailers

like the local neighborhood hole in the wall shop will just use essilor shit

basically galsses are just like clothes

Lenscrafters = Khols

Neighborhood optometrist = macy's

high end retailers = LVA/barney's

-----------

Low:
essilor = transitions, crizal, varilux, xperiduv, eyezen

NOTE: NikonEyes = walmart/sams exclusive is rebranded essilor, legal grey area since use the same labs as nikon however materials used are different grades

Mid:
Luxxotica -> Ray-Ban RoX lenses; Nikon (they don't even offer poly carb), Trivex

high:
Zeiss Optics/ Schott AG Borosilicate glass (made in usa line) they offer mineral glass and quartz as well

---------------------

you can buy a luxottica frame with essilor poly carbonate lenses and all the coatings cheaper than you can buy a compete set of standard index zeiss optics glass lenses with no coatings and finishes

also poly carbonate lenses need "edge polishing" which is another $50, even with that tossed in there it's still cheaper than glass

Where to cop some cheap prescription aviators sunglasses?

I have some nice ones but my job takes me outside often and I inevitably end up breaking them. So I need cheap ones for outdoors.
