i was a size 38 and within a year I was down to a 32 which is good enough. i eventually made it down to 29 which is where i'm at now, and don't have any desire to get smaller.

I am 6'3", I used to be ~210 lbs in high school. When I went to college I stopped drinking pop and had to walk all over campus so I dropped down to 185 lbs. Starting last July I began doing light cardio and some bodyweight exercises, this dropped me down to 160 lbs. I am no using weights to build some muscle and seeing slow but continuous progress.

tl;dr I went from a 39" waist to a 33" waist in half a year by simply exercising and eating less junk food.

You can do it too OP, just take it slow and let it happen. Don't be obsessive, if you spend to much time worrying about results you will discourage yourself, or even worse, injure yourself.
