Looks pretty cool although orange on orange might be a bit dull, as in nobody'll notice there something on there. Unless that's what you're going for. I think the yellow patch would've looked better on a blue/gray pack.

Looking at your pic again, yeah, I guess someone sewed it on. The pouch is meant to attach to buckles at the top and bottom (pic related with a newer style yoke). Maybe they wanted to have it like a go bag when zipped to a bergan, who knows? Either way, looks neat with the patches.
