I have been working out way longer than i have been into fashioin, and i really find it hard to combine and im too ambivalent too choose one. I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but wanting to become the best version of yourself is a very human desire. I can only speak for myself, but I'm very insecure. Being somewhat fit and dressing good ensures me that I fit in as a desireable being in a group and that others find me attractive. I am yet to shed the pain and fear that makes me feel the need for these things, but I can tell even now that looking great won't be as much of a focus if I do.

Accepting that you are vain and that you crave others to like and accept you is healthy, and denying that you want a connection with other human beings as well as being desired by the other sex will only make you spiteful and judging of the people who do accept that part of themselves.

I feel kinda like I'm getting fit for the wrong reasons, but that it can't hurt. I eat, sleep and feel a lot better when I incorporate lifting into my daily routine. It gives me a sense of integrity and proves to myself that I am able to be a determined person who does the things he has set out to do.
