i agree, high waist is best waist. for the longest time i wondered why modern suits often look so goofy, and i think it was because men were wearing their pants too low, either because high waists weren't common or because most men are conditioned to wear them low because of low rise's popularity in jeans. I think low rise works ok if you have the right proportions, i.e. shoulders that are significantly wider than your hips. but most men's shoulders are more square with their hips and the added bulk plus visual line of low rise pants aligning with the hips fucks things up a bit. i will never buy low rise again, there is no point to it and imo they are far more uncomfortable

Yeah and they still look better than the pic in OP. Formulas are usually there because they work. Thats why you wear trousers and not big cock shaped monosuits. Experimentation is indeed a good thing, but to be able to experiment usually is something earned through mastering tried and tested methods, same with any art or form of self expression. Obviously hardly anyone on here and r/mfa/ has devoted thier whole life to fashion so using well executed tried and tested methods works way better than just experimenting for the sake of variety. Its like a beautifully rendered still life vs a child's abstract. The still life will most probably look better.

It's just a symptom of modern ties being way too fucking long so they can accomodate both 18" necks and low-rise pants. If it was tied to the proper length he would have a fist-sized knot. I'm 6'1 but have a tiny neck - even a 52" long tie is a tad long on me.

This is somewhat true for standard tie lengths. How the knot is achieved is what ultimately defines the length. Double Windsors or even halfs are visually weighty on shorter guys like myself. I tend to stick to a standard four in hand.
