Idk about only cedar. CDG Wonderwood smells very strongly of cedar to me while TF Oud Wood has some cedar scent. Both are great.

There isn't really much science behind it as far as I know. Just wear heavier, darker scents in fall and winter (tobacco, wood, leather) and lighter scents in the summer (floral, fruits, anything "fresh")
