What's the most effay guitar? I dig telecasters personally
Contemplating playing again and I'm liking the look of this
>>10716397
personally, my favorite designs are the fenders. love jazzm, jag, and mustang.
I compromised and bought a g&l fallout and have no regrets.
semi hollows are also very /fa/
pic related, color and model of mine.
>>10716437
I personally and not a huge fan of just regular dark wood color, but it's more about how it plays. and you definitely should start again. music is so much better when you can apply it to yourself and be creative too.
>>10716437
looks shit.
do you play jazz or metal?
>>10716449
great choice, i would buy it if it had a tremolo
pic related my guitar. also have a jazzmaster
>>10716397
Based tele design is based
>>10716454
I've not tried one yet, will probably end up going to a store and seeing what feels best first
>>10716477
Probably is
More interested in the metal end of stuff
>>10716397
Acoustic guitars are the most effay
Don't have to plug them in anywhere, which means you can play anywhere.
>>10716397
>>10716498
What a shitty claim
>>10716397
Oh my God
That guitar is fucking sexy
>>10716397
Tele or jazzmaster.
for acoustics, 808's
>>10716490
disgusting, couldn't be more useless. You can pretty much never even hear the bass in most metal.
I wish I knew funk/jazz bass desu
been listening to jamiroquai constantly lately
>>10716948
Absolute shit tier. Buy a fucking rickenbacker you fedodo. You don't even dadrock correctly.
Anybody have an opinion on ESP?
>>10716952
>You can pretty much never even hear the bass in most metal.
Are you serious? Maybe if you only listen to nu metal and metalcore, I guess.
Metal features some of the music prominent bass playing in music. Hell, many many death metal bands actually feature louder bass than guitar (Cryptopsy, Atheist, Cynic, Autopsy, Beyond Creation to name a few).
I have 300 gigs of metal on my computer and I can assure you that the bass is prominent in the vast majority of it.
>>10716961
every ESP I ever played (around 50 I think) played perfectly well, never heard about any quality issues even from the korean LTD models etc...
/fa/ wise I'm not sure since many pointier shapes look edgy-teenageresque to me
>>10716966
Nu metal actually has much more bass than most metal because of the hip hop aspect.
Yeah, must be really good bass playing what with hitting only root notes as fast as possible. Wooooooooowwwww, so good.

Godin Spectrum Steel String
white strat
I've got a fireglo 4003, but a blue or jetglo 4001 is definitely more /fa/
>>10716437
Any tips on other /fa/ basses? Have an ibanez sr500 atm
>>10716948
Jesus what is this desu
Sexy
>>10716397
>>10716864
Chet Atkins disapproves of more than 6 strings, familia
mine
>>10717071
What makes Ricks good?
I have a 1969 Fender Competition Mustang in Competition Red (w/ Yellow Racing Stripe). Surfy, weird. I love it.
>>10716983
>>10716952
>listening to jamiroquai
>>10717124
DAMM
>>10716481
jazzy might be my all time fav but that semi tele is slick. and I'm actually going to buy a bridge with a trem directly from g&l so im getting the best of both worlds haha
>>10717071
>>10717150
It honestly boils down to "they're different than fenders". I've got the Rick and a Jaguar and I prefer the tone and the feel of my Rick. Other basses will give you a bit more to work with. I wouldn't consider either better than the other, they're both great instruments and it completely depends on personal taste.
>>10717173
We can't all be edgier than a Gillette Fusion and deeper than the MarianasTrench fampai.
Name me a band that has better syncopation, basslines, drumming, and singing simultaneously with incredibly danceable tracks and I'll gladly listen to it. Too bad there is none.
>>10716961
I have an incredibly expensive ESP custom Horizon from the mid 2000s. I can't even express the beauty of this instrument in words, and I'm only referring to the sound. It's like you're an angel playing on his harp if that makes sense.
No idea about the new E-II models and all, since they changed their production politics because Japanese customers used to re-import ESP guitars for decades, which made the company rethink. But the old ESP guitars are fantastic.
>>10716958
>Dano not dadrock
pls senpai
>>10717219
>made in china
>>10717223
Mine is a 1966 or so, and it's a bitch to get to play when you first get them.
But once you do, it's fuckin TOAN TYM
:'^)
>>10717403
That's a silvertone boyo, not a danelectro. Still a really sexy geet though.
>>10716397
Telecasters are my favorite guitars and Sterlings/Stingrays are my favorite basses.
>>10717200
Very reasonable response.
>>10717442
Yeah, silbertones are dope. Always fancied the amp cases. Heard it's a good idea to changs the tuners out though.
bought pic related during my Sonic youth phase, now just use it to record dirty but not overdriven guitar lines so I don't get sued for copyright issues sampling guitar riffs lmao
Goldtop p90 lp's

what guitar does /fa/ recommend to someone who has never touched an instrument in their life?
>>10720268
Made in Japan squire
>>10718873
fedodo tier
jazzmasters have a better scale and cooler tone if you want some soapbars
fuzzier distortion and twangier cleans
Dad has one of these which he restored after finding the body in a skip
Plays pretty nice
>>10716449
Holy shit love the look on this one. How does it play?
why are 95% of hobbyists stratoplebs? when i look at amateurs i wonder why fender even keeps telecasters in production
>>10720366
these are cool as fuck
>>10718873
eh these have a better clean tone imo
>>10721629
Telecasters are super popuar my fampai.
Have you ever heard of country music?
>>10720461
I have the tribute series unfortunately, but after fixing a few issues of made in indonesia quality (loose jack and shit) it plays fantastically. and I got it for really cheap too. would recommend to anyone looking for a nice guitar for under 500.
>>10721797
Never buy a guitar new and you'll get a lot more for your money.
>>10717107
I hate these bullshit faux distressed custom jobs. My friend has a telecaster that's 10 years old and worn to shit. Cigarette burns, worn down frets, busted up fret board. And he did it himself because he actually plays his fucking guitar. Pic is my telecaster, btw. Butterscotch blonde limited edition MIM that's just as good as the American made telecasters I've played. Pretty /fa/ if I say so.
>>10717085
A Danelectro. Probably made out of plastic/vinyl. I know a guy who has a bass guitar (a 6 string that's not a bass but a guitar that's low like a bass) and it's sparky red plastic and is a cheap piece of shit. Like a guitar for a 10 year old girl.
>>10721771
i guess it's because i live in a city full of mexicans. i've never seen anyone other than a professional musician rock a telecaster. and i have on myself obv
>>10721839
i wouldn't do this
you can get ripped off
so many shady people throwing made in USA on mexican made strats
or throwing cooked chink pots into off-brand bodies and throwing nexks from salvaged guitars on them
misrepresentation everywhere
i see motherfuckers representing their vox solid states as tubes etc etc
since most professional musicans are drug addicts and sleezeballs so much scamming going on
>>10722061
Albert Collins fan?
>>10716397
I'm thinking of copping a new guitar soon. I'm big on seafoam green, shell pink and daphne blue for colours. I like the look of the jazzmasters but I feel like they're pretty trendy and I might end up hating it in a few years. Same with tele although less so. Strats are more boring looking but I feel like they never go out of style. What do you guys think? Any other recs? I hear Gibson has shit quality control these days and most of their guitars are fedora-tier
>>10722081
Just inspect it first. And buy from white people. Isn't that difficult.
>>10722085
Then get a mustang.
Fender only really makes like 5 electric guitars, and thwir scale is better than gibson for bends. Les pauls have a distinct top end shimmer though.
>>10722087
it's usually white kids in their late teens early 20's trying to scam motherfuckers
>>10722073
Weird. I've always loved the look and sound of Gibson ES-355 and other semi-hallow bodied guitars but I can't afford one. I've played an Epiphone Dot and I dug it but went with the Telecaster in >>10722061 instead. I can't afford a Gibson so I went with a $700 Fender instead of cheaping out on an Epiphone. More bang for the buck and much nicer build quality than most Epiphones I've seen. People shit on Mexican Fenders but I think I lucked out since it was a limited model and used the same computer cutting equipment the American models are made with. About the only thing that's different is the pickups but I still get a great sound. Not the same as a 50s throwback Telecaster but still great.
>>10722096
Where? I've never had a bad craigslist experience. I've bought a couple pedals, and a jazzmaster with no problems. My friend has bought an ac15, about 4 guitars, and 10 pedals off there without a hitch. Like where do you live? El Paso?
>>10722115
Naw bro still shit, the only good foreign fenders are Japanese
>>10722126
I live in san diego but i buy from fender all the fucking time in corona,ca when they do those lot sale custom shop clearance things so usually up in that area where parts are dirt cheap but full guitars are full retail
>>10722127
a squier is not a fender despite being made by them.
you want made in america or squiers made in japan
mexican fenders are like china made squier parts, some left over second grade american bodies and odds and ends assembled in mexico and shiped just over the border to corona
>>10716437
would look better as a 5 string
>>10722127
Thanks bro. You certainly know better than me, the person with the guitar.
Depends on your style. No futuristic BC Rich, or ESP. Speaking of which, there are no real respectable guitars directed at metal players. Maybe a less ugly Ibanez?
>>10717150
I've heard real bad shit about them being over-engineered. They have two truss rods. the neck-binding means that if you have any significant fret wear you need to do some major surgery. Old ones have weak output pickups with separate lines out for each of their weak ass pickups. They are pretty though.
>>10721629
Everyone hipster nerd finds strats unfashionable because they remind them of dadrock and white person blues. There is truly nothing wrong with a strat though. It's no better or worse than other fenders, it's just that shoegaze and noiserock memers all use jazzmasters.
>>10723849
Nothing sounds as sweet as the middle/ bridge out of phase tone on a nice strat imo.
>>10716965
