Is anyone else tired of how Hedi Slimane (or any other designer) refuses to use black models?
The only time I recall him using a black model, was that one lightskin Jimi Hendrix look-alike that he used in the psych rock collection.
SLP focuses on sub- and countercultures like punk, post-punk, grunge, rock, etc...
I think he could make great collections based on black culture aswell, and it's really a shame that he doesn't :((

really only wear and buy slp cause it fits my body better than anything else.

I really enjoyed the Parisian styling as well as influence in the winter collection but this summer collection just screams "kook" to me. Especially with these slp embroided skateboards too.

I mean i still thought the collection was fun and pretty suiting for a summer collection. I.e more relaxed, less serious styling and undertone on presentation. But things for me are starting to run a bit stale, i think its really easy to just say that a lot of Hedi's time at Saint Laurent has just been Dior v2 and i dont necessarily agree with that but i also don't disagree with it. Theres been a few items that are essentially just Dior clones.

Also the pricing for some pieces have just gotten out of hand, especially now that the production side of SLP has changed. Im not one to complain about price for designer pieces at all but constantly spending 600-1000$ takes a toll after a while. Haha.

Idk, i still enjoy the brand as a whole and i did like some of the pieces from ss16, like the destoryed flannels but i still kinda find myself being bored with it. Maybe its just cause im not ready to give up the French Heels and sharp tailoring for more of a relaxed beach bum look.

I still enjoy the runway shows just for the sheer production that goes into them but i do find that the clothing is starting to make go "meh" or "so what". But again it was only a Spring/Summer collection and those tend to be less serious(meaning more fun, relaxed, loose) than say a Fall/Winter collection. Just have to see how it all plays out for FW which im excited for just to see what he decides to follow up with after the surf goth collection.

Speaking of taking influence from other youth cultures, i think it'd be kinda cool to see a 60's Brit inspired collection. Of course its been done to the point of death almost but it'd be cool to see an slp take on it.

Stupid question. There are two signature jackets in their permanent collection, the one with the belt and other features and one without, made of lambskin and calfskin, respectively. Is the calfskin one pure black, or washed black? I ask because if I'm gonna shell out the money, I want to shell out something that'd be a little more durable.
