As a Southern Mexican (Acapulco) I can say that rich Mexicans from the DF dress the worse.
Bright colour jeans with polo shirts, gold watches and moccasins. It's like their fucking uniform.
I also hate them because I work at a small time store and they never have change, so I'm always running around looking for change like a homeless man.

My dad was a tailor in Mexico during the 1970s and made outfits for several famous people and bands (not those mariachi regional grupo shit, one that I'm sure of is Los Muecas and other similar ones) and they were pretty much following American trends at the time but added their own twist. My dad actually inspired me to follow fashion although we sometimes have conflicting ideas. He's more traditional and is basically retired of everything so he looks like a typical dad and doesn't attempt to look nice at all because he says that his time/youth is over.

It depends I guess, take me as an example, I am full Aztec except for the height (6'7) but besides that, my skin is bronze (brownish/orange),hairy as fuck and kind of below average on looks, so I have to work with that (also I'm colorblind, so I only dress I colors I can recognize) , But as some fellow Mexicans said, there are a lot Europeans mixes out there, and fashion is becoming more and more important in mid to high social class.
