Your best bet if you're looking for casual/formal versatility are (in order of decreasing formality) black leather derbies, chelsea/jodhpur boots, or clean lace-up boots.

Depending on your budget, Meermin, Loake, AE, Carmina, C&J have excellent options in most of those categories.

For chelseas/jodhpurs specifically, some other good options are Story Et Fall, Scarosso and SLP.

These are all good recommendations. To speak from personal experience, I have a pair of Johnston & Murphy dark brown longwings that have treated me very well for a very decent price ($~140). Like the above poster said, I'd say black derbies or chelsea/jodhpur boots would be your best bet. If you're looking to use them in more casual scenarios as well, don't get wholecuts like in your picture as that would be the most formal variety. I'd go for captoes or wingtips personally, depends on whether you'll be wearing them in dressy or casual outfits more.

I'd help if I knew what I was talking about.. but I have a question myself

I wear khakis (in high school, it's my uniform), jeans (black/ white/ dark blue/ tan), and joggers. I'm looking to get some new shoes because all I have are some solid grey vans. Based on what pants I usually wear, what would be some good ideas for shoes to get? Some ideas I've had are white oxfords, sk8 hi true whites (mainly just for joggers), and/ or grey desert boots. I want something that'll look nice with each different type of pants I wear. I'm on a budget, and am only looking to get 2/ max of 3 new pairs of shoes. Any ideas/ suggestions?

I'm 18, 6'0, male, and pretty skinny.. if that helps. Also, I don't want anything too formal
