which levi's number is the best number
>>
>>10632936
objectively? 522
>>
Personally love the 511's. Got them tapered even more too and theyre perfect now
>>
>>10632936
511s look the best on the most common legs on /fa/ browsers (slim).

510s and 514s are better for slimmer and meatier legs, respectively.

I personally like 501XXes - that is, the shrink-to-fits. Feels more Levis'-like - oldschool waist, more simple construction, no goddamn lycra, etc.
>>
>>10632955

How much do the shrink to fits actually shrink

I'm a /fit/izen with huge quads, so jeans are really finicky because I have to buy regular and relaxed and have them tapered from the knee down.
>>
>>10632936
they all fit shit but if you're gonna buy buy 510 or 501
>>
Is it me or did they change the 511 sizing? I went go the store recently and tried new ones and they fit snug, yet my year old ones are loose af, both same sizes on the back.. How am i suppose to know which one to cop if the sizes are all over the place?
>>
>>10632978
Nah they just fit shit on you
>>
>>10632971
The waist shrinks about two sizes, the length about 2-4 (the material differs - the thicker material in the indigo seems to shrink less than the black)

You definitely wanna try 501XXes, I'm in the same boat and they fit my needs perfectly.

Dr. Denim or Levi's? ;_____;

I work out and 514s fit me very well, similar to how 511s fit skellies. just confirming.
>>
501's seem to fit looser than they did 10 years ago. i imagine it's because of how many different levels of slim they offer now.

the construction of the jeans has gotten cheaper, they're not nearly as durable as they were. the seaming on levis is awful now, too

but for 40-60 bucks, it's not a bad deal
>>
>>10633025

They seem to be trying to make the jeans exclusively for dressing up and not working in, or that's my guess based on the fact that ~60% of their line is now dark indigo with no whiskering and no distress
>>
>>10633025
if you are buying Levi's for over 40, you're making a mistake
>>
>>10633057
What about Levi vintage though?

Basically, unsanforized jeans are jeans that haven't gone through the sanforization shrinking process. Pre-shrunk jeans are said to shrink as little as 3% which is still pretty noticeable but only while wearing it. Unsanforized jeans, or the Levi's 501 Shrink-to-fit series, will contour to the shape of your legs but not so much that it's skin tight. Pretty much, it never looks awful whether you have thick legs or not. Just make sure you hem the jeans and you should be good. Personally, I hem them before actually doing wearing or washing.
>>
Could anyone recommend a good pair of jeans for a 32 waist. 6"2, 165lbs. Looking for a more of a slim look, but not sure what to go with
>>
>>10633090

I'm generally between waist sizes for most jeans, so I usually go one size up and then just burn them up in the washer and dryer and they fit fine.

I wanted to try those, but I was didn't want to waste time returning them if they became unwearable after the wash.

I generally just buy the relaxed straight and then have it tapered more.
>>
>>10632980
maybe just a product of shrinking
>>
>>10632955
I tried 511 and they felt a little tight, 514 were perfect though. I might go back and try another pair of 511's, I liked how I could show off more shoe with them.
>>
501s are literally nearly perfect for a budget jean

they changed it up too much though, jacked the price as well

still the best model they offer. no gross spandex, no dated low rise...
>>
508s are great, really skinny without feeling uncomfortable and they have the perfect height.
>>
>>10632936
508 + 541
i dont have stick legs
>>
I like 451's because I'm tall but have a thick ass and thighs. slim is skin tight and straight looks like boot cut but athletic is a nice balance
>>
511 commuter represent
>>
510 or back to mfa
>>
>>10633472
this guy knows. I got them tapered and they stack nicely. They have stretch to them which is always nice.
>>
>>10632945
511s a for spookee skellies. 513 masterrace
>>
>>10632945
how much did it cost to get them tapered?
never been to a tailor before but I got a pair recently and they fit great around my thighs but are overloose knee down

sounds like maybe you're a redditor in disguise
>>
Shrink-to-fits or '47 501s.
>>
>>10635884
>>10633494
its funny because /fa/ is usually slower to trends than mfa is

stop pretending youre ahead of the curve
>>
>>10632945
>>10632955
They aren't a high enough rise. 511s would be good if they sat on the natural waist, not halfway down your ass.
>>
>>10633074
The vintage stuff is better made, but not for what they're selling it at. Spending more than ~100 to 150 for LVC is okay, but at ~250 there are far better options.
>>
>>10635911
so true

Try living in New Zealand.

Retail for Levi's is $120NZD.
>>
>>10633057
>tfw short skelly
>tfw I always have to pay premium on my levis because they never have my size on sale
>>
Are 511's shorter on the inseam compared to other levi's?
>>
>>10635963
508s are great but too inconstant, and I believe aren't made anymore. I have 5 pairs of 508s and only one pair fit me perfectly. 3 are too tight and 1 is close to being perfect. I don't know why they don't all fit the same considering they are the same size and number.
>>
>>10632936
Any value to buying 522s? or just buy a 511 and get it tapered from knee to ankle?

How is the fit on 501s? Based on these pictures they dont look too baggy for straight fit jeans.
>>
>>10636191
>mfw short skelly
>mfw can buy in kids section
never paid more than $25 on a pair, but at this point it feels too weird to go in a store, just order it online
>>
Its fucking weird. I have like 5 pairs of levis 511s from over the years.
I am a 33 waist usually but some of my levis are 36 and barley fucking fit while others are 34s and they fit fine. I just bought a pair of 31 waist cheap mondays and those fit great
Levis sizing is fucked up and inconsistent
>>
>>10632980
Honestly I feel like Levi's sizing is all over the place, depending on where the garment was made (which, at this point, could be China, Egypt, Haiti, India, etc.).

>>10633074
I kind of want to try these, or at the very least the genuine U.S. 501XXs.
>>
513s

511s and 514s have their place but 513s are the most versatile
