Is there any products that one can use to weigh down curly hair, without making it feel gross?
I used to leave in some conditioner, but the hairdresser told me it isnt good for my hair, apparently it 'suffocates it' which was true I guess as I had been losing a bit more hair while I did this. Other than that I have had no success with oils used for hair, leaves my hair looking oily... and certain matte gel type things work, except they make my hair feel fucking hard and gross.
On bad days I look like garfunkel, which is more often than not.
Other than that I dont know what to do with my hair. Pic related, its me. Excuse the shitty themed outfit. Only pic I have on my phone.

i use a matte called Gritty.Business by Kevin Murphy and that works pretty well for me, but if you overdo it, it definitely will get crusty like you said. Curly hair is v tough to deal with

Thats what my hair looks like on a good day. Other days I look like garfunkel. Either I put too much shit in it and it goes hard and feels gross, or I get it just right, or it is soft and fluffy and frizzy and goes all fro like.
I have considered growing it out. I just think I am at that awkward length right now.

I feel you, brother. My hair also differs from day to day. Or from shower to shower rather. Sometimes I'll also look like garfunkel (left pic) and other times my hair looks... ok (right). I'd also like to find a good product to manage my hair. Oils don't really tame my hair, only leaves it looking greasy.
Also, as you can probably tell, my hair is more wavy than curly.

I have the exact same hair right now familia. I let it grow out with the intention of keepibg it long on top and have shorter sides. I'll drop a few photos for inspo

thing is the hair on top of my head never looks as smooth as on the sides/back, as you can see in my pic. It's all dry and shit, and I don't know why.
Also I have a pretty big head and am not sure about those cuts fitting me, they look nice on the pics though.

I'm cuban and my hair is extra curly. I put leave-in conditioner before I sleep and lightly put pomade in the morning when I style my hair. It comes out not that frizzy and my curls turn out controlled.
